It's arguable that the safety was the best player.

He could have drafted a DL instead of a safety, and there were plenty good ones besides Adams available when the did. So, it appears that the coaching staff drafted according to their preference of importance - a DB over a DL.

Maybe they followed the BPA principle. Nothing wrong with that. They have holes through the entire team, and only 1 pick through 4 rounds.

The only ones more comfortable the Gibbs is opposing teams QBs in the pocket.

I think Landry was prolly BPA at #6 and a good pick. The real problem isn't who they selected in the first but the reality that they continually trade their draft away.

I thought a good Christian man like Gibbs espousing to be doesn't lie. So exactly what is blowing smoke? Explain difference between a lie and blowing smoke to me again?

As a Boys fan I'm thrilled that the Skins choose to ignore getting pressure from their defensive line and instead would rather use sell-out blitzes to try to get to the QB. It only takes one good blitz pick-up and BAM, big play down the field, the opponent's in the end zone and your defense is demoralized. I hope the Cowboys spend as much time preparing for the blitz as they did under Parcells.

I swear, it seems like the 'Skins organization is living in Bizarro world.

Everyone else in the league thinks pressure up front gives you a great defense. Whereas the 'Skins organization thinks its outstanding CBs that give you a great defense, while pressure up front is less consequential.

Everyone else in the league thinks you build a team through good/great drafting and developing your own players. Whereas the 'Skins organization thinks they can win by trading away draft picks and paying big money to (mostly) crappy free agents.

Whats the quote.. Only a fool would teach the enemy the error of his ways.

Gregg Williams relies more on the blitz than the d-line to get pressure on the QB, so he feels he doesn't need great pass rushers to get pressure.

The funny thing is, he hasn't seemed to figure out that if you have good pass rushers on the d-line, you don't NEED to blitz as often and open up your defense to the big play. He feels good corners will allow you to blitz more often.

The plan is pretty much shot for them having good corners next year when you consider Springs is 32 and always hurt, Rogers can't cover meatloaf with ketchup and CPT Loveboat Smoot is a shadow of his former self.

The fact that the line is getting old (Daniels 34, Griffin 31, Salava'a 32, Wynn 33, even Carter28) beginning to succumb to injuries can't stop the run is another matter entirely. I guess London Fletcher will fix all that by himself.

I hope their secondary is good and can cover. There are 3 top 10 picks back there. They should be covering someone.

With the scheme williams uses, he doesnt need all pro guys up front per say, but they do not have an end that can get to the qb and that could be a problem.

I think they have a nice rotation at DT. At end though I am not sure they have anything, carter was pretty bad last year.

All that being said, their front four occupies blockers they have a couple of linebackers that can get to the qb.

The question mark is going to be, if they are going to play zone and keep everything in front of them can they stop the run. If they cant stop the run then there season will be no different

If you cant stop the run u have to bring a safety down into the box, if you move a safety you are putting someone one on one, couple that with an inability to get a real pass rush from their ends and that is the big problem.

What's doubly bizarre about this philosophy is it has worked the exact opposite way ever since Gregg Williams took over the Skins' defense...

In 2004, the Skins had 40 sacks, and ranked 7th in pass defense... in 2005, they had 35 sacks, and ranked 10th in pass defense... last year, they had 19 sacks, and ranked 23rd in pass defense...

Sure looks like their pass defense gets better the more they sack the QB, doesn't it??

Yeah but didn't like 20 of those sacks come against Rob Pettiti and Torrin Tucker?
