Have u actually watched him play complete games this past season?

Yes, he was in my mock and I only mock players that I've seen play.

What did you think? Just curious. Me personally likes to see it on the field before I make a judgement. That being said I'm really excited about this draft, could be the best in many years for us

Mel Kiper gave us an F. lol.

I don't care what Kiper gave us. We always seem to get the lowest grades in the draft but yet we have more probowl players so go figure

No way. Nobody grades with Fs.....there is a formula and it always in the B+ to C- range so they never look as dumb as they actually are.

Positives: He has prototype measurable(s). You can see the quickness and ease of movement on the field and that was backed up by the combine. He has very long arms good hand size and all the things you look for physically. He wins by just being physically superior to the opponents, not by better technique.

Negatives: He is raw as a football player. He ducks his head too often, his kick slide needs work, his hand usage/arm usage is not very good and he need to get stronger. They say he is intelligent, so I really question the coaching that he received.

Summary: He is the exactly type of player I like to see drafted in the later rounds. Raw with super high upside. If you going to spend time developing players they might as well have high upsides. Just say no to the Caleb McSurdy types in the 7th.

Nice write up. Really enjoy a report with positives and negatives. It's much more a blessing then the he sucks. ....was a reach etc.

Thank you for that.

Why did you have to bring up McSurdy? I can't believe they saw anything in that guy.

I've seen Gibson play a lot, both in person and on TV, and he always looked like a caged animal to me, like he has ability and energy but doesn't know what to do with it half the time. Sometimes he looks like a mauler. Sometimes (way too many) he seems to get moving too fast and just flat misses blocks. Vah Tech plays a very conservative offense, though, which I think may limit player development some. There's a big difference between the offensive and defensive players that come out of Blacksburg as far as NFL-level skill and readiness.

As everyone says, Gibson has all the tools. He's a smart guy, too, so it won't surprise me if he soaks up pro coaching and ends up on the right side of the Dallas OL instead of Green. It also wouldn't surprise me if he spends a coupla years on the PS, signs elsewhere and never starts. He played some guard and RT early on before settling in at LT. He also played special teams, so he has some skill flex. Once he learns some technique to go with his physical ability...who knows?

I think he was a great pick, but how he turns out will be largely dependent on coaching. His development will be interesting to watch. Green's too. A memorandum on Callahan's importance to the success of the Dallas OL.
