Northern Alabama’s Gant posts stunning numbers
Posted: Pro Days | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Ed Gant, Mike McClendon, Tony Fiammetta

Seven players worked outdoors on FieldTurf at North Alabama’s pro day.

The headliner was WR Ed Gant. He measured in at 6-foot-1 1/2, 197 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 and 4.50 seconds, had a 32-inch vertical, a 10-3 broad jump, a 4.12 short shuttle, a 6.77 three-cone drill and put up 18 bench press reps at 225 pounds. This is the kind of player who shows so much athleticism he can be switched to defensive back if it doesn’t work out at wide receiver.

RB Mike McClendon was another notable prospect, and he checked in at 5-8 7/8, 196 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 and 4.50 seconds, had a 24-inch vertical jump, a 9-7 broad jump, a 4.68 short shuttle, a 7.54 three-cone drill and put up 22 bench press reps.

Here are notes from other recent pro days:

Albany State: Three players worked outdoors on AstroTurf. The most notable was offensive tackle Raphael Nguti. He measured in at 6-6 1/4, 333 pounds. He ran a 5.58 and 5.50 40-yard dash, had a vertical of 26 inches, a broad jump of 7-9, a short shuttle of 4.98 seconds, a three-cone drill of 8.26 seconds and 20 bench press reps. He also has impressive reach with 34 1/8-inch arms.

Syracuse: Eleven players worked indoors on FieldTurf. The two notables were FB Tony Fiammetta and G Ryan Durand. Fiammetta checked in at 6-0 1/4, 242 pounds. He kept his sprint times and jumps from the combines, but did post a 4.33 short shuttle and a 7.03 three-cone drill. Durand measured in at 6-4 5/8, 305 pounds. He ran the 40 in 5.10 and 5.13 seconds, had a 27-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot broad jump, a 4.66 short shuttle, a 7.40 three-cone drill and did 28 bench press reps.

Florida International: Twelve teams came to watch 13 prospects work out on FieldTurf. There was a 15 mph wind. The two notables were TE Moses Hinton and S Marshall McDuffie. Moses measured in at 6-3 3/8, 258 pounds. He ran a 4.86 with wind and a 5.02 against the wind in the 40. He had a 38 1/2-inch vertical, a 9-11 broad jump and 16 bench press reps. He pulled his groin during the workout, so he was unable to do the short shuttle or three-cone drill. McDuffie checked in at 6-0 1/2, 200 pounds. He ran a 4.64 against the wind and a 4.57 with the wind in the 40. He had a 40 1/2-inch vertical, a 10-3 broad jump, a 4.11 short shuttle, a 7.06 three-cone drill and 10 bench press reps.
Alabama A&M: Five players worked out and ran outdoors on grass.
