Since there is interest according to Jerry Jones in some of our players and so many people seem ready to get rid of half the team, here's a Cowboys draft in which we use several players as trade bait.

1) Dallas trades G Kyle Kosier and the No. 27 pick to the Houston Texans for the 20th pick. Cowboys select G Mike Iupati.
REASON Kosier is a good fit for the Texans' system and doesn't have too much wear and tear considering he didn't start early in his career. By trading for him, the Texans can use the 27th pick to address a need at running back. Dallas trades up because Iupati won't likely be around at 27 and is a really good fit for the power blocking of its interior line.

2) Dallas trades RB Marion Barber and its third-round pick to New England for the 44th overall pick. Cowboys select G/T Vladimir Ducasse.
REASON The Patriots need to pick up a running back, and the top three are gone, plus New England loves to gain picks while adding players. The Cowboys plan to use Felix Jones as the primary back and feel Tashard Choice can handle the No. 2 role, and adding Ducasse gives them some insurance at guard and tackle in case Iupati or Doug Free struggles. I don't believe Ducasse will reach Dallas' second-round pick.

2) Dallas trades TE Martellus Bennett to Cincinnati for the Bengals' second-round pick (54th). Cowboys select RB/WR Dexter McCluster.
REASON The Bengals have shown interest in Bennett in the past and if they don't take a tight end in the first round, he would be a good option. The Cowboys are satisfied with the play of John Phillips and believe he can handle the No. 2 role, and McCluster gives them a player who can be the third running back, slot receiver and return man.

2) Dallas selects FS Akwasi Owusu-Ansah.
REASON I think the other safeties will be gone (which might give reason to grab one with one of the earlier picks) and this is about where Owusu-Ansah's value will fall.

3) Dallas trades WR Patrick Crayton to Miami for the 73rd overall pick. Cowboys select C J.D. Walton.
REASON With McCluster on board, the Cowboys don't really need Crayton, but Miami could use him as its third receiver. The Cowboys get back into the third round to complete their line transformation. The future is fairly set with Free, Iupati, Walton, Brewster and Ducasse.

4) Dallas selects LB Brandon Spikes.
REASON Gives the Cowboys a physical backup to Bradie James.

6) Dallas trades C Cory Proctor to Houston for the 187th overall pick. Cowboys select TE Clay Harbor.
REASON Houston gets a good backup fit for its system. Dallas gets its third tight end.

6) Dallas selects FB John Conner.
REASON The Cowboys try to upgrade the fullback spot with John Phillips taking over the No. 2 tight end spot.

7) Dallas selects OLB Chris McCoy.
REASON Actually, this ones just a shot in the dark. Dallas doesn't need another OLB, but most 3-4 coaches believe you can't have enough linebackers.

do you think you could get that much for
6 rder C Cory Proctor to Houston -
they just traded for a C last year

you do realize that with #1 receivers going for 5ths that a number 3 slot guy will not fetch a 3rd right?

Probably can't get anything for Proctor, but I had to try. ;)

There's a difference. Crayton is a Parcells player who has not been in any trouble and will be a solid role player.

Parcells likes players he's familiar with and can trust, and he knows Crayton can be his No. 3 guy and a reliable punt returner.

Guys going for virtually nothing either have issues (Holmes) or haven't done anything.

u traded our 3rd to NE, so where did we get another one to draft AOA?

but it still sets the market, better players going for later picks

He has AOA coming off in the 2nd.

ok I meant JD Walton.....it really doesnt matter who.......but rather how.....as in how did we trade our 3rd, yet still have a 3rd to use for the draft. i do not see where we picked up a 3rd anywhere in his trades.
