Ginn and Stanton, 1 & 2?

Just read a newer mock draft on ProfootballTalk.com that has us taking Ginn at 22 and Drew Stanton, QB, at 53.

At first I thought Ginn could go there in Rd 1, but Stanton at 53? Is he even in the top 53 rated players? Well, on some lists he is actually right in that mix of players rated between 50th and 60th or so of the top 100.

How would you like to see a QB to Dallas in Rd 2, Stanton or otherwise?

If we take Stanton at #53, they better set up a 100 foot high barricade around Valley Ranch because that might be the only thing that will protect Jerruh from me.

:laugh2: people are taking Jerry's comments about needing to get another QB way too far

I'll be the first admit that I do not think that Stanton will ever be a quality starter in the NFL. Hell, I have questions about him being even a serviceable backup in the League. But my real fury with the pick would be using our only second round pick, when there is still a crapload of talent out there, on a QB. That my friend would be a "philo" move and thus a stupid move.

it makes no sense whatsoever to take Stanton, or any other QB that high unless you had serious doubts about Romo, which I don't think is the case, Jerry is talking about adding a backup here, not a potential starter

I wouldn't at all mind drafting Stanton - but in the 4th or 5th round, not the 2nd.

that's good value, I wouldn't mind Stanton in the 4th round, but I doubt he slides there

I wouldn't reply other than to say that mock is muck and doesn't deserve a reply.

He will not last until the 4th or 5th round.

I really get amused when I see posters like you saying "I'd like this player" and then just name your round.

Obviously, you don't have a clue about his status or you wouldn't even bother thinking he would be available in the "4th or 5th round".

I might as well wish for Calvin Johnson to drop to 22.

Ridiculous.

If Dallas is looking for their top choices to contribute to the team this season, then those guys don't fit the bill.

Stanton at QB would not see any playing time.

Ginn would be the return man and 4th receiver on the team. The 4th receiver does not get much playing time unless there are injuries. Ginn can be good return man, but a return man does not get the ball that much.

Sorry - frankly I haven't kept up with guys like Stanton enough to know where he is projected. Early on there was a very wide range of thoughts on where Stanton would go - I'm not current on that, so get over it.

Nevertheless, it's equally ridiculous that you don't think people should be able to name the round they think a player should go - that's what drafts and draft discussions are all about. Obviously that rule doesn't apply to you though ......

If Ginn approaches what Hester did last year that alone justifies a first rd pick.

we're most likely taking a WR on the 1st day

I would take that draft.

And throw it in the garbage.

Just kidding. Although I consider Ginn to be risk at 22 due to his injury history and limited skills as a receiver, I do think he could have an impact this year on special teams and as a slot WR.

Stanton would be a good value in the late 2nd or early 3rd. He has the measurables and he's smart. He would be a good risk at pick #53 and could potentially develop into a quality QB.

I agree. Maybe even with the #22 pick. Any receiver is not likely to see much playing time, whether that is Ginn, Bowe, Jarrett or whomever. That is why I would be surprised if a WR is the first pick by the Cowboys that they would then pick a QB with their next pick.

Or curl into the fetal position everytime things got tough, like he did in college.
