Gints coaches are hot too

The earlier post that complimented Coughlin and suggested that we need a coach like him was trashed by everyone.

But lets admit one thing.
The Giants have been superbly coached in the playoffs. They are not as talented overall as Dallas or GB but when the game was on the line, they were better coached.

The zone blitz that they used against us in the 4th quarter confused the heck out of us (Romo, Garrett, the Oline). All we had to do was run more patterns over the middle but for some reason we were too confused to figure out what to do. We kept throwing outside, deep patterns.

Today, the Gints offensive scheme of spreading the Packers secondary and focusing on the One On One matchups worked beautifully.

Also, watching the Patriots, I think Romo would be good in that scheme. A lot of short stuff -- but a lot of deception and overlapping patterns that confuse zone coverages.

Our coaching wasn't as hot as the Giants when it counted -- that is one reason we lost.

I have to agree w/ you here

they were vastly outmatched against us, but managed to turn it on when the stakes were highest, while we folded like a deck of cards

The Giants are very well coached. And I think the area where that shows the most is their O-line. They don't have a bunch of "stars" up there, but they always play so well as a unit.

Maybe with Houck in the house, we can start to do that, too.

I think the only thing they're "well coached" at is limiting major mistakes like turnovers. But that's only been for the past few weeks.

It does seem like Spagnuolo got better at "picking his spots" as the season went on. I like his style.

I really think the hiring of Houck is actually bigger then retaining Garrett.
