Give Danny McCray some love...

I was just rewatching the game again, and one guy that really stood out to me was Danny McCray.

It can't be overstated how good of a special teamer this kid is. He had two or three great tackles on kick coverage. One that really stood out was during a return on a punt by Kerley (or Holmes?). Kerley took the punt about 5-yards up the field and then broke right across the field for what looked to be a huge running lane. McCray was persuing the entire time and chased him down from behind before Kerley could make his cut up the field again.

It's crazy that some folks were willing to part ways with this kid during roster cut down.

I like the fact he's working into some of the defensive units as well.

I love the fact the kid is our special teams ace and sports #40, so fitting.

...kid is a keeper and then some. I might be crazy, but didn't he cause the Sanchez fumble too? I was in an alcohol induced fog that evening.:

I think he's very solid and has potential to be a start in a few years. Even he is never able to start, he's one of those guys that impacts the game with limited opportunities.

I think there is a lot of potential with the young guys in our secondary.

I had this kids back I claimed him and Holley were our 2 best gunners on ST. But what has been impressive is his knack for blitzing at the safety spot. I remember arguing with someone about him playing on the first team defense. I stated why would they play him there and design a play for him if they were gonna cut ties with him? I just don't understand the logic of some people sometimes. I swear.

I love the way Ryan uses everybody and guys who weren't making plays before are making them now that they have an opportunity. I don't recall Lee ever playing as much as he did Sunday. Hatcher was more active than ever. Then you have a guy like McCray getting a chance. Every one of them showed something. It looks like they already believe in Ryan's system and will improve as the season goes on.

LOVED his sack, strip, fumble on Sanchez! He was so excited! Him and his buddy Barry Church (they are friends off the field) were celebrating like crazy. Great ST player too!

When Reality started that thread asking people to name young players that stood out, I named Sean Lee and Danny McCray.

totally agree. i remember when he went down in that preseason game and people thought he'd get cut....yikes i'm glad that didn't happen.

he is like Keith Davis x2 right now on special teams, and making some plays on defense too

i really think our scouts hit a home run on UDFA safeties last year with McCray and Church
