Give Dat some credit on the Williams INT also!

Check the replays when Dat tells Bradie to watch for the shovel McNabb hears him and looks, but still runs the play. Then on R.Williams int. Dat yells, “check down Bradie!” for him to watch the backs coming out of the backfield. McNabb hears him again, looks at Dat and Bradie, then on the snap looks past both his RBs (which would be his check-down receivers) and go’s directly to his WR.

Dat and Bradie seem communicate well together. Bradie seemed to fully trust everything Dat was telling him and Dat was call’n them like he had McNabb’s playbook for the last 2 weeks!

Didn't realize that. Dat is an incredibly smart player.

And that's the advantage he has over Shanle. Even though Dat is 4'2"/126lbs and Shanle is 7'3"/405lbs (according to many here) Dat still is the much smarter player.

Ah...But Shanle can shoot fire from his eyes and lightning bolts from his arse. :laugh1:

Just kidding...I like both players.

And that's not a knock on Shanle, who could very well turn into a really good player. But Dat's experience and know-how makes him just that much more valuable until a Shanle or someone else can put it all together.

Dat - undersized and can't hide in a 3-4 like he could in a 4-3. Dat role reduced - book it.

Oh wait, I thought I was Nors for a sec. Nevermind.

Yep.

Good thing I read this post before I posted because this is what I was going to say.

How fortunate for Shanle and James to have Dat here to learn from.

He's also better, plain and simple. Maybe in a few years though, Shanle still has a lot of learning.

Those were very good points...thanks for sharing them !

Many, including myself, tend to take for granted the mental aspect of the game. And Dat has always had a reputation as a smart player. That was his rep at A&M

Dat may be the smarter player but when he was out Shanle did just fine as our defense had to play against some pretty good offenses. I like Dat but sometimes his smarts can't make up for his physical deficiencies. That's where Shanle or players like him come in handy.

Dan Campbell said on his show yesterday that Dat always does that. He said he hates practicing against him. It's almost like he's in their huddle. He said Dat does not get beat on the same play twice. He said he's been doing it since college. All he has to do is see a play once. He knows it based on the formation. He's good like that.

Shanle still has a long ways to go, I remember in the MNF game, he blew a coverage assignment on Chad Lewis, Bradie had to direct him, 1st down Eagles

Because if you replay it, you can hear him yelling it to Bradie just before the snap.
