Give It Up For DeMarco Murray

With the unfortunate news that Murray fractured his ankle and is done for the year let's give it up for him he had a spectacular rookie season. In just 8 starts Murray rushed for nearly 900 yards, averaged over 5 yards per carry, he only had 2 touchdowns, but that's mostly due to the fact that the OC is clueless and doesn't call run plays in the red zone. Give it up for DeMarco Murray

I sent him a tweet thanking him for a wonderful rookie season. The future looks bright for DeMarco.

Lets give it up for the real star, Fiammetta. I don't know what it is about the guy, but our running backs seem to have huge games when he plays. This isn't taking anything away from Murray, because I believe he is a beast. But I believe that with Fiammetta starting, nest year we will have two running backs that can have big games and be game breakers. Felix had an absolutely amazing game last night except for that fumble.

I loved what Murray brought to the team this season. Is he a superstar? Probably not, however, I think he can be a consistent 1200 yards/season guy which is all you need (and maybe all you want as strange as it is to say) in today's modern NFL that is so prejudiced towards passing.

I don't think he's a superstar yet, but he certaintly has the potential to be.

Hey, I agree with this!

Man, I never really paid much attention to him during games, but I was watching him last night and he leads his running backs to the second level like ...wow!

And the backs seem to know which way he is going to block and then go the other way and BOOM...they are going for a big gain.

I hope he stays healthy...the run game is not the same without that dude.

A "consistent 1200 yards/season guy" is generally a superstar, or close to it. Only 8-10 guys reach that number each year, and a very small handful do it consistently.

I guess my point is that superstar RBs in this league don't seem to have much of an impact in terms of winning the Superbowl.

The Packers (2010) and Saints (2009) barely bothered to run the ball in their SB years. The Steelers, Colts, and Giants before them all had serviceable running backs but definitely not superstar RBs.

The reality is that the teams that have superstar RBs are not the best teams in the NFL and I kinda wonder if it's because the spend too much timing running it and can't throw it when it matters.
