There is an old saying of "Give the Devil his Due". Mainly the Devil and Mr. Jones. Jerry Jones has shelled out close to $200M in cash for resigning players. Not every NFL Team and Owner will do that.

But with a $5 Billion dollar franchise value, he can afford it. Also, how much did the value of the Dallas Cowboys go up with Ezekiel Elliott no.21 available for the next 8 years.

I am not a Jerry Jones fan. He is not truthful, opportunistic to the determent of others, and has given Cowboy fans a reason to believe mediocrity is the Cowboys way since firing a back to back Super Bowl Winning Head Coach.

However, when he wants something, those same horrible traits work out in his favor and for Cowboy fans.

For the most he has avoided signing outside FA and fans get upset every year when FA kicks off but because Dallas is not throwing cash around for outside FA it has put this team in a position to take care of it's own key players.

Due? How many playoff wins does Jerry the GM have in the past 2 decades?

He signed a player he felt he needed. Nothing more.

Every franchise can and does afford it. The NFL is a salary cap league and every franchise must average at least 89% of max cap spend over a 4 year period. The league as a whole must spend 95% of the maximum cap.

There is nothing Jerry can do to outspend other owners. That is actually a good thing as owners like Kroenke and Tepper are worth a lot more.

i get what you are trying to say but they are spending up to the cap....as do most all teams....it would be one thing if they didnt have a cap and the team was spending more than others but pretty much all teams spend up to the cap, just in different ways....

It doesn't matter what the franchise is worth, there is still a salary cap. Every team is limited to spend only up to that amount and no more on the talent.

After the new CBA this contract for Zeke will look smart because everyone is saying the Cap is going up by a lot !:star:

I hear a lot of people saying that, but all that would result in is renegotiation of existing contracts. To be clear, I think the Zeke deal is actually a great one for the Cowboys, but if the cap goes up 50% and Zeke isn't the #1 paid RB anymore, he is going to demand to be.

Our FO has been doing a great job -- anyone who says otherwise is hating.

The young, homegrown talent on this team is tremendous; over half the league would die to be where we are with our football team.

Cowboys received hate for picks on Frederick, Jaylen Smith, LVE; if you look back at recent history this team has been outstanding at drafting & developing talent even when it was considered to be a bad decision at the time.

Just last season, Cowboys received heavy criticism for taking LVE & not responding to the lack of talent at the WR position by spending its first on a WR. One year later, LVE is one of the best young players in the NFL, Gallup is a young promising WR they took in the 3rd, and they answered the #1 position with Amari Cooper -- so far has been a STUD.

This FO has been excellent -- our team is in a great position to win a Super Bowl in the foreseeable future.

See LA Rams.....that's your precedent.

If only he had more souls to sell.

It's not a matter of Jerry or the team having enough money to pay players, it's about the salary cap. I'm not saying Zeke does or doesn't cause a problem in that regard - time will tell. But all these owners and franchises have the money, it's just a matter of how much of it they can spend on players under league rules.

Jerry can afford to bring in a better HC but refuses to do so, so screw him.

Yeah, its time to stop the whole JJ doesn't care about winning schtick. It's moronic.
