Giving Dan Bailey credit

Talk about a guy who just might not being getting as much credit as he deserves. Bailey is worth 7.6 points per game for us. 23 Field Goals made resulting in 69 points and then divided by 9 games.

95.8 % Accuracy!

He is the 2nd ranked kicker in the entire NFL in kicking accuracy behind Mason Crosby who has attempted 8 times less. How good is he at kicking long? His longest of the season is 51 yards. In fact, he's 8-8 from 40-49 yarders. Surprisingly his only miss came in the 20-29 yard range.

For the first time in a long time, I'm not leaving the room when we kick field goals. I actually have confidence in Bailey. I don't remember the last time I had condifence in a kicker. Probably Folks rookie year.

As an aside, it was great to see Folk shank a chip shot FG against the Patriots Sunday night. It brought back a lot of memories. I had a good laugh when he missed.

For some reason when he missed that kick. Something came over me and I said, this kid is good, I felt like he had to get the miss outta the way. It was weird.

I just checked and according to pro-football-reference Dan Bailey is tied for 203rd all time in FGs made. I suspect by the end of the year he could be in the 180s.

Good job bringing this to light. He indeed deserves props for his performance this year.

What Bailey has done is nothing short of amazing. First year kickers, especially rookies, just don't have that kind of success very often.

I'm kind of nervous that the wheels might come off, but I sure hope it doesn't happen.
