Thought I'd throw a mock out there.

Peterson, Miller, Quinn and Fairley are all gone but Newton is still there. Fearing Washington will take him at 10 Minnesota calls offering us picks 12, 105, 136 and 167 to move to # 9.

12 Tyron Smith OT USC

40 Christian Ballard DE/DT Iowa

71 Curtis Brown CB Texas

105 Aaron Williams CB Texas* will be a FS in Ryan's scheme

109 Justin Boren G/C Ohio St

136 Kristopher O'Dowd C USC

140 Casey Mathews ILB Oregon

167 Shiloh Keo S Idaho

171 Detron Harris WR Texas Tech

209 Alex Albright DE/OLB Boston College

I'm thinking along a similar line in the 1st round. I think we trade with the rams at 14 so they can grab julius jones ahead of the skins. I think cam goes earlier than our pick.

So, Minnesota trades their 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th to move up 3 spots? That leave them with 3 picks in the draft.

The have pick 147 too.

I don't think there is any way Curtis Brown or Aaron Williams see the 3rd and 4th rounds but if they did, I would be doing back handsprings off the roof of my house.

:)

I wanted to pick up a 3rd instead of a 4, 5, 6 but Minnesota did not have one and a trade down with the Rams would likely mean not getting Smith since Detroit is wanting an OT.

I like Brown better than Williams, but none of the safeties fit well at that pick. I am hoping Williams lack-luster combine and all the conversion to safety talk causes a slide.

For those that have used O'Dowd in their mocks...He worries me with two dislocated knee injuries (not sure if on the same knee or on both knees).

Sure he is a lower risk if taken in the lower rounds, but still the knees worry me.

I like the trade down ideas because I think we can still get a good OT and if we want have the ammunition to trade back up in the first round or possible trade up higher in the 2nd or 3rd round if we want.

Oh and you got the song stuck in my head so here you go...

Great stuff.

I like it all but for but Smith. I am not sold on him, only played two years at RT. I don't care if he is a athletic freak for his size. The biggest bust in the draft every year are always the athletic freaks. Carimi has 4 years at LT and every scout says he is a day one starter at RT no problem. Non are saying that about Smith. Carimi has a better resume, played one on one with better NFL DE prospects.

Like the Detron "Lewis" that is, pick. He favors Crabtree lot. Very strong.

Still not in love with Tyron, would rather have Carimi.

I don't like the mathews pick but the rest I sure could live with

Just about every scout says smith can be a Day 1 starter on the RT or the LT so I don't know what you are reading.

Love the Keo pick. He's exactly the kind of lower round pick you want on your roster.

DeCamillas would love him.

I havent heard that at all. Smith has played LT for two weeks and he was so bad in pass pro that they moved him to RT.
I don't even think Smith could start day one at RT. Only thing I read about smith talks about his potential and athletic ability, nothing about his current skills and great technique. I don't want to draft a player based on potential. We need a true day one starting RT and that is not smith, not this year.

Carimi, Solder, and Costanzo all have more experence at LT that Smith does.
Carimi is the best RT in the draft and thats what we need.
