GREAT movie.

The best fight sequences ever, even better than Raging Bull, great story, and extremely well acted.

My brother called me yesterday and told me it was the best movie he's seen in a while and they go a couple of times a month.

Crowe and Giamatti are shoe-ins for Oscar nominations.

It's the best movie I've seen since Million Dollar Baby.

I really enjoyed it. The fight sequences were great. Russell Crowe looked very small compared to what he looked like in Gladiator. He did a wonderful job. I can't stand Renee Zellweger, but she didn't take away from the movie for me.

Although her Jersey accent did sound a lot like Edith Bunker, I kept waiting for an, "Ohhh, Archeee." :D

Definitely a 'feel-good' flick, quite good. Probably the best so far this year though the best pictures will likely not arrive until the fall. I'm looking forward to the new Batman myself.

OK, I went and saw it.

Great movie.

I liked the fact that it was a true story and I thought the interaction with his wife and children and the struggles they went through were powerful.

The fight scenes, like pretty much all boxing movies, weren't realistic. I realize they probably have to have all these earth-shattering blows to make the movie better and more watchable.

They really made Max Baer look like a turd. Opie's revenge on Jethro, perhaps.

Overall, I thought it was outstanding. Renee Zellwegger -- like her not -- did a great job.

Which was unfair and inaccurate. Although the movie was excellent, the "poetic license" they took with the portrayal of Max Baer, Sr. was wrong.

I did a little research on that after the film, because I was wondering how accurate that was. He apparently was quite a womanizer and had a flamboyant lifestyle. Max Baer Jr. (Jethro) even said that his father got a "bj" right before the fight with Braddock.

The comments that Baer's character made to/and about Braddock's wife were a little over the top and I have no idea how accurate that was. I'm sure the truth was stretched quite a bit.

Also, Baer, according to his son, was very distraught over the ring deaths and wasn't cold and calloused like in the movie.

I thought it was interesting that Baer Jr. said his father never really liked boxing and really wanted to be an actor.

Baer helped support the family of one of the fighters who died as a result of head injuries following their fight, including putting this mans kids through college.
