Godfrey to retire at end of 2005 season

Kevin Acee, of the San Diego Union-Tribune, reports San Diego Chargers LB Randall Godfrey said the 2005 season will be his final NFL season. "Oh yeah," Godfrey said. "This is the first day of my last season. I'm done." Friday, July 29, was his first definite pronouncement that he would walk away, with a season remaining on the three-year contract he signed when he came to San Diego last year.

Not good for SD. And on the first days of camp, to be hearing this.

I wish he would have stayed longer with the Cowboys. He is one of my fav players.

always thought Godfrey was a very productive player w/ us. Nothing spectacular but very solid and had some great moments. Here's hoping he has a great last season..except in week 1.

He was very steady didnt make the flashy plays, but didnt miss the normal ones.
