Why are teams going for it it instead of taking a team into OT or a tie to end OT..they are handing teams FREE wins IMO

Ive seen now Houston got free one and technically another one from us with Garett not going for it on 4th and 1..

ive seen it tice now before today and now the Titans all they ahd to do is kick and Xpoint to tie and put it into OT..how is that smart football not even trying to get into ot?

that to me deserves a firing thats not being aggressive, thats giving up..you tilt records and when you GIVE a win to team without fight it can skew standings for other teams..so frustrating. This is just bad coaching IMO especially this titans going for two and losing..31 secs left in reg and you go for two instead of simply kicking a Xtra point? they need to test Coaches for drugs as well..seriously..

Easier to win in one play than to play across all the chances of OT.
it was dumb period its not the way the true chess match type game is played..this was the worst of all of them, they handed the Chargers free win, period..heck the Titans should be fined by the league it smells of tanking chicken POOP..when this happens late in season and gives team ahead of us a chance to make playoffs and we are out because another team laid down and let our competition win, really thats ok? you

If the Titans succeeded we'd have threads about it being a great decision to "play to win" rather than "playing not to lose" (like punting on 4th and 1 from your opponent's territory in OT, for example).

no matter what WRONG decision If and Butts dont put money in your pocket..you play within the scheme, its becoming a trend now and it will cause issues down the road when team does this and launches a team over another into the playoffs..

It was a great decision to go for the win right there. Calling a pass instead of a run from the 1-yard line was the mistake.

How you figure? Their defense was playing well and they had the momentum.
Thanks you! you kick the point go to OT and then go for a win..if in ot times running out and the you do this its easier to understand but you decided another 15 was too tough?

As for the Chargers-Titans game, what they did was pure stupid. In the first play they could not even design a good play in which a flag bailed them out. But still they wanted to go for it again. A totally free win for the Chargers.

A million things can go wrong in OT across multiple plays. They actually had it at the 1 after the penalty. 1 play from the 1 yard line versus maybe never touching the ball again? Maybe throwing a pick 6? Maybe fumbling? Maybe blowing coverage? Etc.

First of all, OT is 10 minutes, not 15.

Secondly, this situation would never come up in OT, since a FG as time runs out would win the game.

Fined by the league for tanking? Because they tried to win the game from the 1yd line? Stop...

Wait, what? You can argue against going for it from the 2, but you obviously go for it from the 1: you have much better odds of winning there than you do by taking it to OT. Any coach that gets a choice between one play from the 1-yard line vs. taking it to OT and chooses OT should be fired on the spot.

But why they didn't run the ball I'll never understand.

You also give your players multiple chances to make a play that can win the game, instead of just one play.

Especially when teams only make 2 point conversions 48% of the time and your best unit is your defense.

You also give their players multiple chances to make a play. And which team is more likely to make a big play? The team that hit 75-yard and 55-yard TD passes in the game.

I can understand Vrabel's mindset, but I don't understand the play call. You're at the two yard line with Derrick Henry and Mariota and try to throw a slant in the back of the end zone? C'mon man.

A) Great call vs B) OMG, what an idiot call

It's the Titans with a rookie head coach, since it failed, we go with B
