Going to my first game...

your going to catch a break with the heat too. It usually is about 100 in that place this time of year. It will only be about 80 monday night. So that should be nice.

If your in Dallas you need to leave for the game by 430 or earlier too.

A buddy of mine and I left at 445 from the Lewisville mall and didnt get to the stadium until 6:25

Oh and general parking is 30 bucks so get ready for that dose of BS.

the best way to avoid all that is to be there when the lots open, usually 4 hrs
before game time but often for Monday night games they open even earlier to
help with the work day traffic.....and if you are too early there will be people
waiting with you and they are fun to meet

I love the smell that it has.

Congrats, Tomson. I remember how excited I was for my first pilgramage. A few words of advice:

Get there early and hang at the Corral Club outside the stadium. Great, um, people watching...Nothing better than hundreds of attractive ladies in tied-off Romo jerseys.

Marvel at the magestic beauty of Texas Stadium on the horizon as you approach from about 10-miles away. Then close your eyes and don't open them until you are inside. Seriously, dude, I've been to a lot of stadiums- this one looks like Shawshank up close...

Drain the hog right before entering. Texas Stadium has "cattle trough"-style accomodations, with huge lines. Twice, I've seen people helping the lines along by using the sinks. Classy...

Once inside, the field looks exactly like it does on TV; the hole looks cooler than on TV. Way too many Philly fans were tolerated when I went to the Deion-era MNF game; give them the business every chance you get.

Have fun!

I love it when you first walk in and you look through the tunnels and the field is actually below ground level.

Each time you pass another seat entrance tunnel you just see another part of the field and then you finally get to your seat and its just a thing of beauty.

I dont care how old Texas Stadium is it will still give you chills the 1st time you walk in there. You can just feel the greatness that has came through there.

You will be shocked when you get to texas stadium because it is in the middle of nowhere,

10 minutes from downtown and halfway between downtown and the airport is the "middle of nowhere"?

Texas Motor Speedway is in the middle of nowhere. Texas Stadium is close to everything. The new Jerrah World is out in the far suburbs, and the traffic is gonna suck. But it sure looks cool!

Its in the middle of nowhere. Many cities have their stadiums in downtown areas or at least in areas where there are hotels everywhere and you can walk to the stadium. You cant do that in irving.

The traffic in the new stadium is going to be great for me. I live in the suburbs and I will be there and back in 10 15 minutes. No complaints from me.

That's what I thought too, Theebs. I was there once and don't remember seeing anything relatively close. Great news for you and the new stadium.

Bastid!! ;)

I forgot to add that my first game was a Monday nighter as well. Green Bay. Most may remember it as the battle of the field goals. Final score was 9-6 IIRC.

Nicest people you'd ever want to meet, those Greenbay fans. A lady and I switched apparrel, she donned my sweatshirt and I, her cheesehead hat and we exchanged pictures. They invited us to eat their food and drink their beer. Great folks.

I also made it to the School book depository, ran up and touched it, :D stood on the grassy knoll and bungee jumped for the first time. And last time.....

Again, I know I don't have to tell you to enjoy. Go easy on the nephews! ;)

So those 3 major highway intersections, not even counting Loop 12, (TS is under the label F in this map) are "in the middle of nowhere"!? Seriously dude, this has to be the stupidest thing I've heard in awhile.

Also, unless you live within walking distance of the new stadium, thinking you're gonna breeze in and out of there in 15 mins, is a fantasy.

The stupidest thing you have heard in a while? really.

Well to me it is. There are no hotels within walking distance, nothing you can walk to for food. Its surrounded by highways sure but those highways have car dealers and gas stations everywhere you look.

Anywhere you are in the metroplex you are about 25 minutes away from having something to do. I am just comparing texas stadium to alot of other stadiums which have lots of places to eat and stay at and can walk to the stadium. thats all. You sure arent walking from the west end or from north irving.

And I get to and from the ballpark in 20 minutes. If I park in the small business lots on stadium drive I cant see any reason why I cant get from my car to my house in 20 minutes. Its the same lot. All it is is one block to divsion go left and right onto 360. I do it all the time for rangers games.

now the walk to the car maybe 30 minutes, just like in irving.

Its just my first and last name in a weird way.

I'm going to be at the Dallas game in Green Bay next Sunday night. I'll be the one in the Ware jersey amongst a horde of green and yellow. The good news is I'll be one of the few happy people leaving the stadium that night.
