Going to the draft in NYC

I really want to make the trip one year. I live in VA, though.

Do you spend the whole weekend? Hotel suggestions? When do you get in line for admittance?

I hear there is talk by the comissih to get more players into the building, that might actually make it worth it.

Once the top guys get drafte they bolt, so you're really just in there with a bunch of other fans screaming at random people coming up on stage to announce the picks.

I don't think it's worth it, and I live in NY.

I'll be there I'm staying the weekend and I'll probably be in line by midnight even though they open the line at 10pm last year I got in line at 2am and it was a long line but I definately got a ticket.

I felt bad for the people who were camping out because last year everybody rushed to the front when they started to give tickets out. So some people that were in their chairs all night and sleeping lost their spots.

But I had a ball talking with fans from around the country and the jets fans were hillarious.

And I'm just glad the giants fans have nothing to brag about this year

I am going again this year...anyone else?

I was going to go, but I decided against it. I'm heading back to Dallas the following weekend and I've got to get it done this weekend. If the Cowboys had a #1, I would probably go.

Priceline a 4 star hotel. Usually you can get a decent hotel for sub $200 a night. If you just hit Expedia or something, you will pay $300+ for anything nice.

I've stayed at the New York Hilton near Central Park for sub $150 several times.

Not sure I could deal with Jets fans trying to impress the nation with their ability to spell. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Yeah guys we got it you learned how to spell congratulations :lmao:

I'll be there. Day 1 is exciting, but Day 2 there are actually a lot of opportunities to chat with media folks and some team reps - things thin out a lot.

I went three times, and at the best time possible. I watched the Boys build their dynasty 89,90 and 91. I went when troy went #1 and when they got Russell Maryland 1 and Emmitt. Jimmy Johnson was trading so much that after like his 5th trade one day when Tagliabue announced another one I shouted "you got to be kidding me" It was louder than I intended and Tagliabue actually looked up.
In hindsight that was alot of fun.

i tried to win the nfl.com thing by monster.com but i didnt,

sigh, oh well there is always next year

I went in 2004, when Eli went #1. Booed him on stage, at David Letterman and every chance ever since. It was fun, definately recommend it for those that call themselves football fans. I wouldn't go again though.. too much standing in lines.

To anyone that goes, be safe, have a great time, wear lots of Cowboy gear. I'll look for you on TV.

Wish I could go... My dad and brother have tickets. They go every year. Wish I lived back in NY with the rest of my family.

I got in line about 4am last year Saturday morning and waited in line until 3pm. All of a sudden they let a bunch of people in but did not barracade the line to the outside street so everyone just started running. It was like the running of the bulls. There were people falling and getting trampled. Not very organized. Sunday is more laid back and not alot of people show up, but if you go back on Sunday and stay the entire time they mail you VIP passes for the following year so you dont have to wait in line again.

Sue them if you get trampled. They will be quite a bit more organized the following year. :lmao2:
