Very productive in college. Please note that every link has different highlight clips. I believe this is a good pick because he is a home-run hitter and a playmaker.

Golden Tate

5-11 200
4.4

Hands: Is outstanding in this area. Does allow passes to get into his body, which is not good, but does catch nearly every pass thrown his way. Makes tough catches on passes thrown behind him or low with ease. Uses body well to shield defenders from the ball. Shows the leaping ability to win jump balls.

Patterns: Runs good routes to separate when aggressive and using good technique. Can quick, sharp cuts, but tends to run upright, limiting explosiveness.

Run after catch: Is a big-play threat as a receiver and return man despite lack of elite speed. Has a good build with a thick lower body. Shows the balance, agility and strength to absorb hard hits and gain yardage after contact. Gets upfield quickly after the catch. Shows excellent vision to find creases and change directions in a flash to make would-be tacklers miss.

Release: Lacks an explosive burst off the snap, but once moving can quickly close cushion on cornerbacks in "off" coverage. Struggles to burst free of press coverage, but shows the strength to compensate and escape jams.

Blocking: Must play with more intensity, but shows the strength and athleticism to be a dominant blocker when using good technique and aggression.

09 - 93 Catches for 1496 yards 15 Touchdowns

What do yall think?

I wouldn't complain.

I would complain, however, if we selected Tate with McCourty, Kyle Wilson, or Pouncey still on the board.

He's too much like Lee Evans... I mean Mark Clayton... I mean... wait, who's 5'11" and worse than Mark Clayton?

Plus he's a great punt returner.

I want whatever return guy we take to be a great punt returner, then he can also be the kick returner. I'm tired of having to go back to Crayton to return kicks because he can CATCH THE BALL.

I'm not against this pick, but I doubt we would take him if a lot of other players are still there such as Nate Allen, Iupati, Ducasse (sp?), or Pouncey.

Crayton is a stud at returning punts. Did you stop watching games after like week 5?

2 returns? The guy was top 3 in average for the season. What on earth are u talking about? He was a stud last yr. After Rossum was signed of course.

03/25/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: Notre Dame may not have had the number of elite prospects at its pro day this year that it has grown accustomed to in the past (outside of QB Jimmy Clausen, who scheduled a separate workout on April 9), but it's still a prime destination for NFL talent evaluators. WR Golden Tate (5-foot-10 1/2, 202 pounds) is probably going to hear his name called in the second round, and caught the ball well in position drills. He stood on the rest of his workout numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Tate was cheered on by Clausen, who came to the event to show his support. In return, Tate will catch passes from Clausen at his April 9 pro day. Clausen spoke with NFL.com and said he ran for the first time on Monday and is recovering well from toe surgery. He expects to be ready for his pro day. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Of course there's a chance he goes in the 2nd, I'm not arguing where he gets drafted, frankly I don't care, I just find it humorous you keep comparing him to worse and worse receivers his size because you don't like him.

What on earth am I talking about? He was top 3 in avg because of those two returns of 70+ yards that my grandma could have run back. He was no stud. If he's such a stud, why is pr/kr one of the teams biggest needs according to Jerry? Desean Jacksons a stud, Cribbs is a stud, Welkers a stud. Guys that can consistently run back a punt for 10-20 yards. Craytons the opposite of explosive.

Ok, I'll be a nice guy and give Tate (5102 199, 4.42) some 1 inch insoles and compare him to Greg Jennings (5111, 198, 4.42) and Laveranues Coles (5112 200, 4.41).

Did you find that humorous too?

cuz I did

In the 2nd round would be ideal...

Late first, early second . I believe the Cowboys should get him. Just imagine Golden Tate and Miles Austin a dynamic home-run hitting duo. Along with Kevin Olgetree, Patrick Crayton, Roy Williams, and Sam Hurd. OMG!:starspin

I did my home-work on Golden Tate compared to the other top receivers in the draft and in my eyes he is the best of the wide receivers in this year draft on my list. He is an all-around wide receiver with a running back body. Another home-run hitting weapon would be great. I can see Golden Tate in a Cowboys jersey taking it all the way to the house. We need home-run hitters, players that get the ball in their hand and is a threat to take it all the way home.
