1st rd pick: http://i226.***BLOCKED***/albums/dd295/LILJUNE18/CASON2.jpg
:Cason finished the season with 71 tackles, including 56 solo, in 12 games. He picked off five passes, returning two for touchdowns, broke up 14 more, forced a pair of fumbles and added one sack.

1st rd pick: Felix Jones. Jerry missed on Mcfadden but may have hit on a major talent in Felix Jones. Jerry made a comment of getting guy on offense he could score from anywhere on the field. This may be the guy he was talking about all along.

2nd rd pick: James Hardy. At 6-7 220 pounds in his 3 yr career he has 53 tds, 2,960 yds.

3rd rd pick: Phillip Wheeler. Great cover lber at 6-2 230 pounds with speed to burn. Led his team in tackles the last 2 yrs. Thoughts?

i don't think i'd have any complaints about our draft going that way...

I'm not too familiar with the linebacker though

I would love Hardy in the second.

To pick an EXTREMELY minor nit, this year the first day will only go 2 rounds...

I'd be okay with that , especially the first two picks . Swap Philip Wheeler for Ezra Butler of Nevada and I'd take it .

I'd rather spend our 2nd first rounder on a WR and spend a 2nd or 3rd on a backup for Barber.

Players that are abnormally tall don't excite me. If it turns out Hardy is more like 6'4", that's be easier to stomach, but I don't want a 6'7" receiver. Automatically you have throw out 1/3 of your routes because he can't run them.

Also, Felix Jones is a bust waiting to happen.

Don't you think we've got enough linebackers at this point? We've got 1st rounders that can't even get on the field because we have so much talent at the position.
Well I look at it like this. Ayodele although solid is nothing spectacular. I think we can make a upgrade there being he comes off the field in passing situations. As far as Carpenter goes I don't understand how he isn't even in a rotation with Ayodele when he is only solid. Burnett has looked awesome these past few weeks but he has always been injury prone and IMO we are a coverage lber away from becoming a truly great defense. Besides this is a 3-4 you could never have enough lbers.

He's going to be around 6'7". I'd have to hunt for it but he was measured at one of the basketball camps at over 6'6" while still in high school.

Besides, what 1/3 of the routes would you have to throw out?

Typically anything underneath or over the middle that might require the WR to adjust low or behind. At 6'7", he provides a bigger target, obviously, but he's not likely going to be quick or agile enough bend down and snag a ball on a quick slant.

He may be a physical marvel that allows him to do things others at his size cannot, but I doubt he is. Otherwise, he'd be #1 on every draft chart in existence. Even Randy Moss, who has great body control, has a tough time on those routes.

I'm sure he'd be a great endzone target, though.

I have seen GT play a few games here and there.

Wheelers name was ALWAYS getting called.

Kid was always making plays.

Don't know if he would make a good pick/player for us but there is no doubt he was an active play maker for GT.

I wouldn't draft a LB at all during the draft. Maybe in the later rounds I can see us drafting a DE/OLB, but I think Justin Rodgers is a good 4th LB. If we did draft anyone, where could they play?

Ware - James - Ayodele - Ellis
Rodgers - Carpenter - Burnett - Spencer

No rookie is gonna crack the top 7, the only chance is Rodgers.

Burnett is injury prone, Rodgers isn't sign long term. Ayodele is solid not spectacular. Carpenter isn't athletic enough to even be in a rotation with Ayodele. Wheeler is in the mold of a Derrick Brooks. Him and James could take this defense to good to scary.

Carpenter is more than athletic enough. His problem is more intellectual and toughness. He needs to play more assertive. The guy has athleticism coming out of his ears.

There's zero chance this guy would beat out Burnett or Carpenter. It'd be a complete waste. I'd prefer picking up a guard at that point.

I doubt that. Ayodele is sixth in tackles as our starting MLB. Carpenter can't even get into a rotation with Ayodele so that tells me about his athleticism.

Like I said Burnett is finally putting some games together but lets not forget how injury prone he is.
We need another cover lber with speed who is also a tackling machine, that describes Wheeler to a T. Also this a 3-4, I will bet money we will take a LBer at some time in this draft, why not with our 3rd rd pick we find a possible upgrade who can stay on the field in passing situations and is all over the field.

I'd bet good money we don't draft a linebacker unless it's in the very late rounds.

Your comments on Carpenter are irrational. And we don't have "MLBs".
