FTL is the only way to get to other planets. Or wormholes. Anything less forget it. In normal space realistically you can only get up to about half of the speed of light before lots of other problems come. And even there you have to have some way to sweep your path of all space dust and micrometeroites which would destroy you at those speeds. Even at slow speeds of above 50,000 miles an hour those factors are huge. That is why ION propulsion is nothing.

Dude, you just need shroom power. I went to that planet last night man. It was cool.

if you got deflector shields then you already have warp drive so why are you complaining?
