I remember years ago there was one course I played that had a lake you had to hit over. What made it worse was the fairway on the other side was a narrow dog leg with a large incline and of course the drop spot was on the tee side of the lake. Meaning, if you hit it too far, you were out of bounds even if you made it over the lake. For some reason, I had a mental barrier when it came to that lake. I could hit over, around, in between, etc. every hazard, lake, pond, whatever on that course and all others I played but that one hole was my nemesis for some reason.
So I used to take a driver, tee the ball down to near ground level and lean forward to skip it across the lake. The looks I would see on other player's faces when my ball would skim the top of the lake hitting the water about 6-8 times before exiting the lake and landing in the middle of the fairway was priceless.
