Pathetic.
He is quietly having a solid season. Interesting what they do with Osa, I would rather let me walk and find a bigger DT as he always wares down.It started in Week 1 for Golston. He logged 29 snaps against the Cleveland Browns and produced four pressures and four hurries. As good as that was, he's been much better over the last five games with All-Pro Micah Parsons (four games) and DeMarcus Lawrence out, although the Cowboys have lost four of them. Golston has amassed over 50 snaps in four of those games (45 in the other), and it's paid off immensely. He put up a half sack against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions. Even further, Golston has five tackles in four of the last five games, 11 hurries, and 13 pressures (tied Parsons for the most on the Cowboys in Week 10). Also, his 21.7% pass-rush win rate was the best on the Cowboys last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Golston's performance in 2024 will far surpass anything he's done in his previous three seasons. His 31 tackles are just one off his rookie total of 32. He's also three pressures and two hurries away from tying his career highs, and he's already produced a career-best two sacks. He's done this in just nine games as opposed to playing in at least 15 in each of his first three seasons. He does still slide inside some, which is what he did in college as well. However, it's clear that he does his best work on the edge, and that's where he should play most of the time.
Golston will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025. Of course, the Cowboys won't be big spenders because they never are in the offseason. However, Golston has earned a second contract, and he won't cost a lot, which is right up the Cowboys alley of how they do business. Having Parsons, Lawrence, a healthy Williams, and Golston will be a nice place for the Cowboys to start from on the edge next year.

get him a pass rush GuRu to work on his pass rush moves and i think you've got something with him. he can play the run he's a bull rusher most of the time but still gets pressure and hurries. i think he would be good rotational guy + starter once we move on officially from DlawCowboys have no choice but to keep him. They need all the DL they can get. He really isn't a top notch starter but a good rotational player.
So was Fowler.as long as he does not want too much then yeah. Golston is the guy who will never be all that noticeable but you NEED roll players and he is one
Rotational, hell they are starters on this team,,, lolLawson and Golston have played a lot more snaps than anyone expected and think they make nice rotational depth pieces in the future. All depends on cost
True but I think they retain either him or OO, whichever is willing to sign cheaper. They pretty much have to.I doubt Golston is back next year, this is the type of player the Cowboys love to move on from and collect a comp pick.
Probably depends on who the DC is next year too.True but I think they retain either him or OO, whichever is willing to sign cheaper. They pretty much have to.
Gholston has proven that his best position is DE. He wasn’t Quinn’s cup of tea as a pass rusher, so they made him play DT, which meant we didn’t have run defenders at DE or DT. He is a poor man’s DLaw, similar to Kneeland. But he is a DE, not a DT.I doubt Golston is back next year, this is the type of player the Cowboys love to move on from and collect a comp pick.
being an average player on a bad defense doesn't make you deserving of a new contract. his totals are achieved by just playing additional minutes which he could not get prior because he wasn't good enough to beat them and keep in mind, those he couldn't beat were average players. It started in Week 1 for Golston. Armstrong also earned a second contract and we let him walk. I have a feeling Golston is going to walk also and we'll dig through the trash again and replace him.
Golston is top 5 in the league among DEs for run stuff win rate. He's legitimately playing good ball.being an average player on a bad defense doesn't make you deserving of a new contract. his totals are achieved by just playing additional minutes which he could not get prior because he wasn't good enough to beat them and keep in mind, those he couldn't beat were average players.
time to part with Gholston.
