It's crappy to expect preferential treatment like that and I certainly wouldn't be a big fan of it but if ever there were some guys who have earned it, Gonzo would certainly be one of them.

I like the guy and don't necessarily blame him. He's made money, has put his name into the record books on par with some of the best WRs to ever play, has secured a 1st ballot ticket to the HoF. He's only 37 and likely wants to spend some time away from the routine.

If I were a Falcon fan, I would rather he be there but if it came to playing with Tony or playing without I'd gladly give him all the time off he wanted. He's still productive and from everything I have heard is top notch all around.

I hope he's back. Although I don't want him to win a SB outright because that would mean Dallas doesn't, Tony G is probably at the top of the list for players who I think deserves a win and would like to see eventually get a ring.

I knew he would want to return when I saw how hard he took their loss in the playoffs. I've always respected the guy, but don't know how I feel about him asking for the raise. I can almost understand wanting to save what he has left of his body for the regular season, and not get beat up for TC, but the 2M raise?

Maybe it's a case of them trying to lure him back and it's getting reported as if the pay raise is coming from his side.

As good as he is, the Falcons might be better served by drafting his replacement high this season and just moving on. That team puts so much pressure on defenses with those big WRs, they should be able to take advantage of it with a pass-catching RB and a relatively high round TE pick. Or spend that money on a player like Percy Harvin who can take advantage of the soft coverage over the middle and play out of the backfield for them in a pinch.

I live in Atlanta & he is the favorite player of most Falcon fans I talk to. Good for them if he does return.

A lot of Falcon fans don't want him back now because the cost is too high.
