Good article refuels the idea of offensive restructuring

Just finished reading a good article about how we restructured the defense to get it to where we needed it to be. Wasn't pretty at first, but the players we brought in really helped make this defense a top ranked unit.

I think we need to address our weaknesses on the line, and get more speed oriented in our offense.

I've said it before but designing this offense around Felix Jones simply helps us.

I like Ogletree, and think that Roy Williams can really step up in his second full year here, but I feel like we still need to address the wide receiver position. Get someone who just gets open. I actually really liked how Crayton did this year when he was in the slot. He was really key on 3rd downs it seemed.

I think my biggest gripe is with this offensive line that we put so much stock into. And I feel that we need to take this uncapped year to restructure the line.

I have a feeling it's going to be very ugly around here on draft day.

could be.

i wouldn't be shocked if we only draft one OL, and it may not be in rounds 1 or 2.

my rationale is that if the Cowboys think they have a player in Brewster, and they know they have a player in Free, they may think that one more young OL via the draft will suffice. they may want to mix in a veteran or two for depth.

the Boys could go lots of different ways this year.

Bingo...on top of that they may be thinking that at 31 Kosier is in the prime of his career. They could be looking to extend him, not replace him.

Put that all together and we could be looking for OL that are ready in 2-3+ years. Bottom of 2-4/5 round targets.

Brooking's replacement could be far more urgent.

This team needs 2 more playmakers. A big time playmaker at the Safety position being the highest priority and we could use a speed burner WR.

This team needs to start the transitioning of the O-Line this year. All 5 starters are over 30, and will need replacing. It will take several years to do it because you can't replace 4 or 5 guys in one year. If the first replacement is already on the team, fine. But more replacements are required...quickly.

There are other needs as well: WR, LB, play making safety. But I think O-line is a much bigger priority than you imply simply because of the number of changes that need to be done. Turning over an entire line takes years. And the longer you wait to start, the more radical the transition becomes. And you don't want that when you have a franchise QB to protect.
