Guy gave 4 years of extraordinarily cheap elite pass rush production in some of his most athletic years. The NFLPA is very weak in terms of how much they can dig their heels in CBA negotiation. Rookies, UDFA, and especially elite rookies get screwed when they are extremely successful on the field and become reasonably due for contract renewal. The franchise tag and the threat of using it are extreme leverage for a team, and the CBA has made it harder to do what Micah accomplished in the last 30ish hours. He does not have to play out his contract to live up to old school expectations. Pro Football feasted upon fresh athletes for profit with little recompense for decades, and now the athletes have more power/money/control than they did in yesteryear. It’s a fantasy to think the athletes should run out on the field and basically risk everything to have the honor to wear a franchise’s uniform. We will get to see how a big $$$ contract affects his play. Players should get every dime they can when they get the opportunity. Cheers to Micah.
