The Cowboys looked really prepared last night. They out- executed the Saints, made fewer mistakes, and played with more urgency and deserved the victory. I thought Romo was really good last night, as he has been most of the season, and I mentioned yesterday that I think you guys have good personnel on defense, (not that yall need me to point that out) I think that showed last night. You should be able to take the NFC East now. Good luck with that.
I was also impressed with the sportsmanship. The DB Jenkins? could have taken a shot at Reggie Bush when Reggie pulled up lame but chose to escort him out of bounds. Also, I thought Romo chose his words very carefully after the game and was humble in victory, more so that Wade Phillips. Not that Wade was out of line but he managed to get a subtle shot or two in whereas Romo refrained from all of that.
Most people from Louisiana being from a neighboring state, either really like or really don't like Dallas. I've been a football fan since '69 and a Saints fan , well the Cowboys were so good in the '70s and the Saints so bad, I inherently disliked them from the start but certainly respected Landry, and came away from last night's game with some extra respect for the Cowboys.
The only big surprise (and disappointment) for me was that the Saints failed to match the intensity of the Cowboys. I think this showed in the poor tackling (Saints have been a good tackling team this year) and it showed on the line of scrimmage. Don't get me wrong, I think Dallas is pretty stout on the LOS but, the disparity shouldn't have been that wide. I think subconciously, the fact that this was no where near a must win for us, probably played a role in us not being able to match the intensity.
The Saints made a lot of mistakes last night that they usually don't make. I realize some of them were forced (by Dallas) but Im speaking of things like receivers busting routes (this happened over and over making Brees look more off than he was) and there were other things but, I don't really want to make excuses. The Cowboys deserved the win, particularly since they were able to do it on the road.
I hope we see you guys again in the playoffs. For me, as a fan, (should we make it to the Super Bowl), it would mean more to me if we avenge this loss on the way there. I have a lot of confidence in our coaching staff's ability to adjust to what the Cowboys did on both sides of the ball, and Im thinking in an elimination game, we'll give a better account of ourselves than we did last night.
You guys have to win in the first round for this to happen so, don't screw it up
