Good job Stephen!

$50 mil SB to a RB who will hit the wall in less than 2 years.

Ok ... it's Jones at his best.

We have plenty of money now for Dak and Cooper. Not too shabby!
Front load Coopers contract because the 30 percent rule allows him to start at a higher number.

Dak will have to be a new contract. Can’t be an extension. So either he plays for 2 mil this year and starts over or they rip up the current deal and start this year. Idk how much space is currently afforded to be able to do that for this year.

Why is that? You speculating or is there some rule.

30 percent rule is what held up the Zeke contract. You can only increase a players salary by 30 percent each year. You can’t go from 5 to 25 in one year.

So Dak can’t be an extension or it would take forever to get from 2 to 35. He has to either sign a new deal before the season or wait until after when his current deal expires.

gotcha, thanks.

IN REALITY with this new deal ..Zeke is playing on his rookie deal for 2 more seasons..but got some cash up front and the rest spread out into future years. THATS A BIG TEAM WIN.

Too bad some do not want to, will not accept nor understand this.

Zekes new deal doesn’t begin until his rookie year is over. Saves a ton of $ for next 2 years. With new CBA kicking in once the deal starts.

Anyone following would have seen that coming.

It is EXACTLY how just about every year three deal gets done.

That's not Stephen being smart. That's Stephan doing what is standard operation procedure around the league.

That's the way these deals always work when there is a current contract in place. They are contract extensions, not tearing up the old contract and replacing it with a new one. That said, there will be additional money now though because of the signing bonus.

I wonder if there’s a clause in there where we can release him after his rookie contract is up? If there is a way out, it’ll go down either very savvy business decision

I’m not insinuating that we should. Just curiosity
