It wasn't a major release, but I liked Jamie Foxx performance in Redemption.


And something wild for consideration, Penitentiary I, II, & III. For mature audiences only. My young aunt took me to see it and my dad liked to have had a heart attack when he found out.

Personally, I'm not real big on prison movies. Partially, because I know the reality is far different from what's on screen. No matter how "real" they try to make it, unless u know someone who's been inside, u'll never know how "real" it gets.

However I still love Shawshank the best.

Can not believe I did not think of the Great Escape...I guess I normally think of it as a WWII movie but it fits this genre as well.
