liked Green Mile and Life. Stir Crazy was great.

What was the one w/Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery? Name escapes at the moment. Liked that one too.

It wasn't a major release, but I liked Jamie Foxx performance in Redemption.

And something wild for consideration, Penitentiary I, II, & III. For mature audiences only. My young aunt took me to see it and my dad liked to have had a heart attack when he found out. :D

Personally, I'm not real big on prison movies. Partially, because I know the reality is far different from what's on screen. No matter how "real" they try to make it, unless u know someone who's been inside, u'll never know how "real" it gets.

Those listed are good....I will add Murder in the First with Kevin Bacon.

However I still love Shawshank the best.

"What say there fuzzy britches" always cracks me up.

Or the Green Mile with Billy the Kid and the moonpie section..."Hooow DOOO you do"

That Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery movie was THE ROCK.

Never seen the Penitentiary I, II, & III flicks, but I will now lol...;)

1. The Green Mile
2. Shawshank Redemption

These are two of my all-time favorite movies

Percy Wetmore: "Deranged killer? He look more like a limp noodle to me. Hey!
[to a doped Wild Bill] You've been declared competent, son, 'know what that means? 'Means you gonna ride the lightning."

-------------

Red: [narrating] I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Red: [narrating] I find I'm so excited, I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

Can not believe I did not think of the Great Escape...I guess I normally think of it as a WWII movie but it fits this genre as well.

Gotta love the Cooler King.

Isn't Clancy Brown, the prison guard in Shawshank, the same actor that Sean Penn beat the crap out with the soda cans in Bad Boys?
