Today, I believe I helped someone who was slated to die.....but no idea who would be the target. So, I went to pick up the wife from work about 35 miles from home. Everything was normal, got my Buckees big gulp and put a plug of Copenhagen in for the drive home.

Now, there is a stretch of two-lane road about 20 miles long and the only way around a slow poke is to pass them. We come up to the last stop light where I could have bypassed the only car in front of me for the open stretch of road ahead. Well, I decided to just stay behind him and cruise along.

After about 3 miles of him going 45ish in a 65 and swerving the whole time, I passed him. I figured the guy was playing on his phone and was distracted. I wanted away from that mess.

This is where it gets interesting and exciting.......I sped up to about 75 to put some room between us but this guy puts it in 5th gear to catch me. He comes flying in and slams on his brakes right before he almost runs into my tailgate. He did this twice and backed off after that. Well, about another five miles or so, here he comes again. This time, he acts like he is going to pass me but gets almost even with us and backs off again.

Now I’m pissed, so I keep cruising along watching him in my rear-view mirror. This idiot almost had three head on collisions with oncoming cars and he almost went into the ditch on our side five times. He was all over the road and clearly not sober. He was driving a mid 80’s gray Mercedes which has seen better days. He only had one headlight with dents all around the car.

I decide to call 911 because this guy was going to kill someone, was only a matter of time. The next thing I know is we are on a conference call with 3 different dispatcher jurisdictions. They had me keep him behind us and watch him giving them locations along the way.

After about 10 minutes, DPS was hauling towards us in the other lane. The cop spun around his SUV on a dime. At the same time the officer spotted the car, that driver throws a beer can out the window....talk about timing

The guy was finally pulled over and was arrested but not sure for what exactly. I’ll have my brother ask around tomorrow to see what charges he got. At the end of the phone call, I jokingly asked if I could get a good samaritan badge or something.....got a couple of chuckles from them

It felt good to help bring some safety to the road getting one moron off at a time! Oh, he messed with my Ram and got the horn :flagwave:

It's always weird to me when someone going slow takes it personally that you pass them. Sounds like a drunk awesome person. I've had some scary close calls going up and down the mountain I live on. It's one lane both ways with a lot of curves and more than once I've had to dodge someone cutting across the double yellow lines going the opposite direction. There was recently a nasty head-on collision that occurred because of that and both parties died. We sat in stopped traffic for over an hour not knowing what had happened. Multiple ambulances passed us with lights and sirens only to come back down a bit later in no hurry (not a good sign) When we finally got to go, we passed the cars on the side of the road. A totaled pickup and a sedan with a front end so destroyed that the engine block was pushed up into the windshield. Glad you got that drunk off the road.

I had a guy driving super slow this morning too. He was driving a white F350 with diamond plate tool chests on it. I figured it was an old dude nearing retirement that was still doing honey-do work for a living. No, the guy was probably low 30s and was just a dill-wad who wants to make the world his wound.

I can't figure out why people are so hateful like this. It's likely because they are unhappy with their own lives. That's what I don't get. If you're so damn unhappy, why don't you do something about it rather than just making other people miserable like yourself?

It's likely because they are jealous of others. They are more worried about what others have rather than working to make their live better.

Don't worry what others have, worry about yourself. It's like other people's opinions. I do not care one flip about other people's opinions. When it comes to me, only mine counts! I'm the one that has to live with whatever it is I have an opinion of!

I was a good Samaritan today too. I allowed other people to be around me if only briefly. They felt blessed. :D :D :D
