I don't buy the guy's "we just made 1 phone call" routine. Their own Executive Producer said in an interview "this is one of the most difficult stories we've ever worked on ... and securing this tape was extremely difficult" (link below)
Fact is TMZ bribed someone for the tape, which is fine because they are a news organization, but the NFL cannot operate with the same tactics. If they use evidence illegally obtained, they open themselves up to a truckload of liability.

If it is illegal for TMZ it would be illegal for the NFL.
It was not illegal for either because it was from the casino.

FURTHERMORE...The ravens has went on record and have said that Ray did not lie about what he did. What he said to them was what was on the tape. The ravens knew what Ray did because Ray told them and since the Ravens knew the NFL knew.
Whether the Ravens or NFL saw the tape does not really matter in the end. Then knew what happened because Ray told them what happened.
The only difference with the tape is that it got out and the Public saw it and the NFL could not hide it.
THAT is what has really happened.
