Google Chrome Crash

Not sure what happened but I get home from work yesterday, start up my lap top and tried starting Google Chrome which was my primary web browser. For some reason, it wouldn't load and continually crashed, giving me a "Google Chrome has stopped working" message.

I tried to System Restore, uninstall and reinstall Chrome, tried using Revo Uninstaller to purge all the files (which caused me to loose my bookmarks), make a new profile by backing up my defaul file, etc.

In addition, my Microsoft Works Word Processor is also shutting down when I try to cut and paste from another document. Really weird.

I just gave up in the end and downloaded Firefox. I like it but it'll take a little bit of time getting used to.

Anyone else have this issue and can think of a solution?

Mine is working fine now but yesterday morning it was a mess and wouldn't load up at all. All it took was waiting about 4 hours.

Mine still crashes. I went on-line using Explorer and tried almost every solution from legitimate support web sites. I even tried downloading Google Canary which is supposed to operate independent of Chrome and even that crashed as well and wouldn't stay open. Who knows, my lap top is going on almost 6 years and it's a bear to reboot, restore ans start up but I can surf the web and the kids can do some school projects so it's been good to me.

You can buy decent laptops for 250-300 bucks these days.

I recently had to ditch my old laptop due to numerous issues. I found a deal online for a toshiba chromebook 13.3" screen for $135 refurbished. I'm very happy with the purchase. I found the deal on a site called slick deals (has a good app too.)

That's my plan when my HP quits. I'm good with Firefox now, at least to go on-line but teenage kids need (ie: want) a bit more in terms of laptops.

I'm typing this on a $200 laptop I picked up at Walmart. I am going to return it, but it's plenty fast. I forgot to pack my laptop on this trip.

What's the reason you're returning it? Sounds like a good a good investment.

My desktop started doing that and I though it was something with Chrome. I did the typical scans for malware, registry issues and hardware problems. It turns out that my HD was about to croak.

I've been having the same trouble with Chrome since Saturday. Every time I booted it up, it would crash immediately. I can run Mozilla and IE just fine but nothing related to Chrome opens up smoothly now.

Just had it happen in Firefox, froze my whole Comp. I did have HTML5 problems in chrome but I got an extension to override it and make it use flash instead.

The flash stopped working a few times, not uncommon for me in a week or so. Then flash bombed out in Firefox,I ignored it as reloading a page normally works, then it froze it made the browser window freeze and no way to close it on the top as the window was all white nothing to click on.

I closed Firefox on the bottom bar and Chrome too restarted them and it wouldn't let me open Firefox until I went into processes to shut it down. I did it-BSOD after I tried to start it again. I restarted Comp opened browsers then again the whole Comp froze had to hard reset.

I think the HDD might be the culprit too. It is somehow memory related I think.

Hmmm. Other than Friday morning I haven't had any issues.

That's where I'm at. Just got home and tried opening Chrome again just to see if it'll start up and it immediately crashes. I was panicking at first when the trouble started this weekend but it is what it is.

I had the same problem last week with Chrome crashing. I couldn't figure out what it was. I was also getting a lot of pop-up adds in weird places when using Firefox. I was able to check the extensions and a bunch of goofy extensions on Chrome were added. One was called Tiny wallet. I disabled and trashed it and deleted it from my computer. But, that stupid Tiny wallet keeps cropping up in the extensions (although unabled). I keep trashing it but it reappears (unabled). Check your programs to see what was added recently and get rid of junk programs. Mine seems to be working now. I also remember I had to exit/quit Google Drive and then Chrome worked.

I had to restore it back to the 10/15 to get it to work properly again. Like Ninja was referencing above, it must have been an add on malware but it worked fine for me last night with all my preferences/bookmarks in place.

If you use Chrome, you should turn on Do Not Track. It's a sneaky little thing that Google does.
