I think what will really tell about the cowboys is what they do in free agency, what players they keep and who they go get to help this team.

another guy said that he thinks with the lockout, rookies wont make the impact they did last year, because now they wont have the time to practice etc.. and get accustomed to nfl

columbo, barber, and roy williams,they along with goose didnt think they would keep the older vets, but thing to keep in mind that may change that thinking is you wil want the vets to help out and thats where barber and columbo come in.

goose, cowboys cant compete with packers, let alone the giants and eagles

free agency player writers think they need to get, weddle, harper, michael, need help at safety, wide range of players out there

goose, you dont pay players at 30 or over, i would go get joseph at cb, if your thinking to get a cb

finished talking cowboys on what everson walls said, basically said players really like jon kitna, but he is no romo. Besides, what has kitna won in big games or playoff games when he was qb for the lions, in other words. So, romo is the player at qb, hands down.

We beat them handily at their place last year. The Giants have little to no running game and their defense isn't very good. The Giants are not a team the Cowboys should be afraid of.

This is the typical rhetoric you see with local DFW media. I can see him saying that about the Packers but the Eagles and Giants have warts just like the Cowboys do.
Every Cowboys fan should do themselves a favor and just ignore anything the local media says about predictions concerning the Cowboys...they always are doom and gloom. If it's JJT he will thrown in his verbal jabs also. They love to put the Cowboys down.

If the last 8 games of the season are any indication - all of which were played without Romo, and many without Bryant - I'd say the Cowboys are not that far off from making the playoffs in 2011 with minimal free agent help. With the right coaches finally in place, if they stay fairly healthy much of this current roster is good enough to get it done.

You mean the same team that competed with the Eagles, Giants, Saints, and Colts? Now with their starting QB and quite possibly a full training camp have to get lucky to compete with these upper echelon teams this year? I don't think so.

I think one of the keys will be Jason Garrett's brother, Judd I think, who is in charge of pro player evaluating. Who Judd recommends to Jason to get in free agency and that we need. I think that will be one of the keys to free agency, along with rob ryan wanting his certain players.

really listen to Goose very much because he throws out crap with no backup. For example not hanging with Eagles and Giants make no sense. We not only hang with them we beat them without our starting QB. I honestly wouldn't trade the Cowboys Team for either Team. The only thing keeping the Eagles from tanking is Michael Vick's legs.

This abbreviated free agent signing period will be a major test for the Cowboys front office.

It certainly sounds like the Cowboys front office will be at a disadvantage, competing against low salary cap teams who will have money to burn (money that must be burned).

It is comical to even discuss where teams rank at this point.

This will be a completely different landscape once the deal is done.

I'd say the Eagles have a big advantage right now because they are well below the cap and have Kolb to barter off. Then again they have to hope Vick doesn't do something stupid a la Pacman.

As mentioned above this will be a huge challenge for the Cowboys front office.

Stephen Jones will really have to be on his A game but he usually is. I hope we do get some type for right of first refusal clause added to the deal that apparently Jerry is pushing.

I do agree with signing Joseph. He is a long-term solution and quality player who could replace TNew day 1.
