Gosselin: Anthony Hitchens doesn't have best measurables, but Cowboys' "Tampa 2" allows for that

I am so happy we passed on JF. Goose gave the perfect explaination why Jerry made the right call.

Actually, Stephen Jones had the better explanation. He compared it to Aaron Rodgers situation. He basically said, with the reality of the Dallas Cowboys. the Manziel "it" factor, there's no way Manziel or the fans would've been patient to wait behind a vet QB. And then with the things that usually happens in the NFL, the pressure would've been unbearable.

After seeing a few highlights im kind of intrigued by the Hitchens kid. It'll be interesting to see him around week 9 when Sean Lee makes his annual trip to the IR

I agree with this

we can't count on Lee to make a full season

I'm counting on Marinelli knowing what he needs in these selections and I'm hoping that the measurables are a non-factor. I recall some interesting debates when Suggs was entering the NFL,,, some of his measurables were not ideal but "what do you know"? that dude can play...

I thought the same thing. Any other QB, any other team. I think Manziel can play well in the NFL, but I think he needs a couple years of seasoning. It would be impossible for that to happen in Dallas. Every incomplete pass, the TV would cut to JF on the bench and Bayless and other mdeiots would spend all Monday talking about Romo vs Manziel.

I believe espn would've aired Cowboys practices. The Romo vs Manziel debate would've started opening day of training camp.

Hey it beats the typical "Goose is an idiot" onslaught.

Change is good for the soul. :D

Change is relative to when the journalist says something nice or positive about the player in question.

Change evaporates when said journalist states something negative about the next player.

This is message board 101. It's so old it isn't even review any longer.

Gosselin's a fairly consistent idiot in my book. I can't stand the guy, and have a very low regard for his opinions. I think you're referring to the fact that posters aren't monolithic, and you'll have differing opinions on columnists and articles with any group of people. The fact that a positive poster or two takes some hears from anything Gosselin has to say is more human nature than it is a sign of a side flip flopping in the breeze based off of whether a comment happens to be negative or positive.

And, for the record, I still don't like the Hitchens pick, no matter what Goose might say about it.

If it were just Gosselin I'd agree. However, how many posters have you seen about any journalist that starts with, "I usually think he's an idiot but...?" Meaning any journalist.

Same with posters. Someone usually seeing the glass half empty will get a lot of praises if he or she were to suddenly post something extremely positive.

It's the message with a caveat.
