This isn't 2010.

No it's not, But the effort and execution on the field these first two preseason games looks eerily similar to Wade's last preseason. I sure hope I'm wrong, but in 2010 we just tried to stay healthy going into the 2010 season and when the season started we look woefully prepared for real hitting of the regular season and before we knew it we were 1-7.

Difference this team has been hitting in practice. Wades team did not.

A few days ago it rained, so it's going to rain today, too.

To me, preseason games indicate nothing about a team's impending regular season success, win or lose.

I don't see the benefit of preseason games as preparation for the regular season either. Games are sloppy for the first quarter of the regular season no matter how much starters play in preseason.

Agreed. Preseason games are interviews for the last 3 guys on your roster.

The effort and execution looked like last years preseason which would be a more accurate example being that the coaching staff and most of the players are the same. For crying out loud please stop putting stock in these preseason games. i don't care how bad or good we look none of these games matter and you won't even remember them by time the first quarter of the first game is here. I don't care about 2010 or 2014 for that matter. What I care about right now is that our key players are healthy to play in the 1st regular season game.

It's impossible to figure anything out from preseason games when half of your starters are sitting and potentially half of the other teams starters are sitting as well. It's a team game, you need to all play together at the same time for about a half to just get the feel for everyone you are playing around, to make fine adjustments on spacing, timing, etc.. and just regain some of the on field communication. Now is the only time these bubble players will be able to get these reps, so as painful as it is to try to watch, especially on offense, you have to just pay attention to individual performances as much as possible until the real dress rehearsal. In addition, from what I can tell the Cowboys have been very vanilla with everything other than trying to get some of the younger D players some experience with various line games to get their execution down and an occasional blitz.

It used to be that starters would play the first half of the second game and 3/4 of the 3rd game, now it seems like more and more teams are cutting that back significantly while others are still following the old practices, which makes for a lot of skill mismatches. We have yet to see this years starting lineup play a single snap against another team on offense or defense because no one thinks it has been worth risking them for a real game. The Steelers-Packers game felt like a much higher level game, but then you see two premiere players get hurt and you wonder if you really needed to see them go to prove what you probably already knew about them and how they affect your team.

We tried this same strategy back in 2010 after losing to the Vikings in the divisional round of the playoffs. How'd that work out for us? Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

They did it last year also and it worked pretty well.

I think timing can be set in practice. And even if its not 100% , its still not worth losing one guy, during these games....Im not even sure they need 4. It probably should be cut down by a game or two.

Yes, it may take a few games to look like a machine, but no way I risk my guys too much in preseason; not in this day and age. I think its the right call. I would do the same thing for the next 2 games.

The first unit better show up in spades, this next game. There will always be loose ends in the Exhibition Season, but the team needs to show by executing on both sides of the ball. Then proceed at determining final roster spots.

Quarterback is fully up for grabs from #2, down. I wouldn't go into the season with any of those on roster...and feel secure.

The only question I have is, why even go out there in the first place & risk injury if you're just going through the motions. There were some good individual things I saw from a handful of players, but I would be ashamed to get dominated so completely, no matter if the game matters in the regular season or not. There's a thing called pride & manhood, & the 49ers were the only ones that understood that last night.

Priorities!!! Stay healthy!!
In other news....even with a lot of players sitting this one out, I really liked the speed shown by the D-line!

I thought the defense looked pretty good
They got out of position on some run plays but overall they were the only real bright spots
Gregory really looks the part as a pass rusher
Staying healthy, getting in shape and looking at young players is what pre season is all about

The kind of pride and manhood that ended Jordy Nelson's season before it began?

No thanks. I like my sissies sitting the bench in preseason, please, healthy for games that count.

That's a lame comparison. You get hurt in this game whether you're kicking butt, or getting yours kicked. Why bother playing then? La'el Collins & several of the younger players took their jobs seriously, & THAT'S how you make a team. When your O-linemen play like crap, (Wetzel, Bernadeau, & Weems come to mind), then it puts your QBs at greater risk of getting hurt. Play 100 MPH with your hair on fire every time you're on the field, I say.

Also to mention the Cowboys went 4-0 in the preseason preceding the 1989 season and promptly went 1-15.

Preseasons mean little.

Preseasons means little?

I dare you to say that in Philadelphia.
