I thought getting a first round draft pick was a coup. Anytime you can get one next year's #1 you got to take it, no matter what the deal. Getting spencer may have been an bit of a reach, but I understand why they did it. There were only 5 good pass rushers in this draft, and Specner was the last of them. There was a huge drop off going down to Woodley in the 2nd round, because he was too short to play OLB.
I don't care what you got this year, you take that #1 for next year. I think this will be a top 10 pick next year. New England may have gotten a Top 15 pick next year.
Did any pick surprise you?
Craig Davis was a huge shock. Okoye was a little high. Ted Ginn was too high. I guess they are hoping he'll be Hester in the kick return game, because he won't contribute as a WR next year.
Why did Miami pass on Quinn?
Obviously they didn't like what they saw. Cameran was a QB coach. Childress of the Vikings is a QB coach and he passed on him. Gruden is a QB coach and he passed on him at Tampa Bay. Some people thought he was at his ceiling, and this is as good as he's going to get. Charlie Weiss took him as far as he's going to go. People look at Rusell and people think he's only at 50% of the QB he's going to become. People think Brady is already at 90% of what he can become. Now maybe that's still good enough.
Do you think Jarrett and Gonzales are gone by #52?
Yeah, I think they're both gone in the next 10 picks. I wouldn't rule out QB for the Cowboys. There are four QB's that could go in the second round , and I could see Dallas picking one to push Tony Romo. You can get a good WR in each of the four rounds. A guy who can come in and give you 30-40 catches next year.
Do you see Rice or Hill be there?
I think Hill will be there. I don't see Rice being there. I see Hill as a high third. I only had 22 players as 2nd round values, so some third rounders ar going to get pushed up.
