Goose was on with Hitzges and said that he for the most part liked all the picks but questioned two of the first three in terms of impacting this year, which he said is what Dallas needed.

He liked the Arkin pick, but predicted that he's likely two years away from contributing.

I will say, just from watching his combine workout, that it looks like he needs a good solid year of weight room work.

....I would say that's to be expected with a 4th rounder. Bring him along slowly and PROPERLY. Like they did Free....I'm down with that.;)

He can make a lot of strength gains in just a years time so it may not take him that long if he has got the ability.

We need some quality guards pretty quick though.

He just looks soft and pudgy to me.

I could pretty much make him say uncle right now if we went heads up.

Is that Goose's opinion or what GMs and scouts told him? That's a big difference imo. Though any 4th round pick is probably going to take some time to develop.

Goose's opinion, just passing it along.

Oh, I heard him say it, but I don't think his opinion means much unless its based off what those in the know say to him.

So? That's what happen to most drafted players.
That's not new.

Doesn't surprise me that it would take a year or two for him to develop.

yup,,, going into this draft the team should have already been planning on stop gap FA's for the OL so this was to be expected,,, I'm just happy Jerry Jones finally spent a quality pick on the OL even if it wasn't sexy and the rewards not immediate.

Thanks, realtick...for doing the work and providing discussion info.

Some here abouts seem to think they are picking up a menu at a restaurant, and you are the waitor.

What? Two years? I want 4th rounders who can start immediately.

I don't think we see a stopgap at RT -- Smith is going to play and we'll live with the struggles. Kosier is re-signing and that is not a stopgap -- he'll have a long term deal and will be our LG for at least three more years. Davis likely is asked to take a pay cut - likely not a huge one (e.g., down to 4 mill a year). He probably does and stays.

So I'm not really seeing where we are going to bring in FAs

He came from a D2 school(or what ever they call it now), so his diet and work out routine were probably childs play compared to what he will experience in the NFL. Wouldnt surprise me if he was able to add 10-15 years of good weight in a year of working out with the Cowboys. Plus given a year to learn from our coaches and it wouldnt surprise if he was starting next year.
