You win chief. Obviously because Warmack gave up more sacks than Watson last year, that makes Watson a better football player, even though every team in the NFL will have Warmack graded ridiculously higher than Watson. Preach on.

I definitely can't argue with that. :banghead:

Ha, yes, please point to where I said that Watson is a better player than Warmack. I'll wait.

Dude, you obviously insinuated it with the sack comparison. I don't have time for this high school stuff. I'm going to sleep because I have something called work in the morning.

Nope, you just overreacted to a singular point.

No one guard wont, you are right about that, but if we go after winston/clabo draft cooper/warmack, and pick up another guard in FA, i think our line will be significantly improved. Id rather have our franchise qb alive and well for a season and not running for his life, then have a great defense thats on the field more then they are supposed to be because our OL couldnt keep Romo on his feet, or open holes for murray to move the chains.

It's somewhat like the age old question of which came first the chicken or the egg. When it comes to the OL or DL we have to take the highest ranked player on the board. Both lines need help. We fix it with the draft first and then value type signings in FA and UDFAs, Hopefully we get an elite player in the first that fits a priority and then it falls that way the rest of the rounds. We will see!

The best thing to do is take from that of Warmack, Cooper, Watson, Fluker in that order. Reason being, the depth is so much better at DT and DE in the mid to late 2nd. Guys like Okafor, Short, Moore, Washington, Hankins, Jenkins. Maybe even a safety and DE in the 3rd.

Watson or Fluker at 18?

Seriously?

You really think a single guard is going to change things? Improving an OLine will take a concerted effort, whereas a great 3-tech can come in and immediately and radically improve our line. A single guard, in the end, won't make as significant of a difference as some are professing.

That being said, I have Cooper above Richardson, but Richardson above Warmack.

I mostly agree. Cooper abover Richardson, and Warmack and Richardson tit for tat. I go warmack if he is there, but Richardson is my 3rd choice. No vaccaro please.

If we go Watson/Bailey or Armstead/Schwenke or Warford/Winston and our line will be greatly improved. You don't necessarily need to spend a first to greatly improve the line.

I'm with you, but my preference would be a Schwenke/Clabo combo.

If one of the top 5 O linemen are there we have to take one. If not then it gets interesting. No way to Vacarro; only take a safety in the first that has shown he can generate turnovers and Vacarro has not. Richardson would be the fall back position. If he is not there then try and trade down.

Yeah but a guard in the first, a center in the third and an FA tackle would be the concerted effort you speak of,,, that could change things in a huge way in just one offseason. Of course that scenario totally depends upon a first round graded guard being available at 18.

Your last sentence is my point. I obviously have no problem with the Cowboys drafting a lineman in the first. Cooper is ranked near my top 10, Warmack's around 15, and I'd be happy trading up for Lane Johnson. But this notion that we HAVE to go offensive lineman round one is unfounded and, indeed, history of the draft contradicts the validity of such a position.

but I think someone not mentioned will slip that we will grab ahead of these guys. By no means am I projecting that they will, but if Austin, Mingo, Ansah, or Star slip, I could see us grabbing one of them (or even trading up a couple of picks for Star). I think there will be ALOT of trades in the first round this year, due to the nature of the evenness of the players available after the top 5-6. Teams will be doing alot of moving around to grab that one guy they prefer.

On a side note, I heard yesterday on Sirius NFL Network that Fluker has lost 20 lbs, and because of it, some folks were speculating that he could be a LT. Kirwan said he preferred that he be a great RT instead of a good or serviceable LT. I was a little wishy washy about him, but I would even be fine with picking up him at 18 if Cooper/Warmack/Richardson are gone.

Can't wait to crack a beer or two and watch the draft!!! Let the drama unfold.

Fluker is a big nasty. You gotta love a guy like that because a good line coach can shore up some of his weaknesses. I wouldn't trade away anything though... or would I? I don't know how high he is on their board. He's a beast though. I wouldn't be entirely upset with the pick either.

I've been out of the loop. Did Free take the pay cut?

You may not have to go OL in the first round but you’d better get one before the second round is over.

The history of Dallas’s draft confirms the validity of such a position.

84% success rate for o-line taken in the second round is what they've been selling on the radio all week. Maybe we should trade down and grab 2...

I wouldn't take either Watson or Fluker at #18; however, I would consider taking Watson before Fluker.
