Downs was the best player in the draft. They clearly loved Lawrence and shows upside. Had a few others higher, but is what it is.

I liked Lawrence over David Bailey well before the draft. They are almost the same player, but Lawrence is more explosive. I think he has a higher ceiling than Bailey too.

I think we got two steals in the first round by Downs falling out of the top 10.

If Lawrence had played for a better team, (like Bailey) I bet he would have went before Bailey.

Two first round picks, two first round steals. None of them in the top 10. That's a solid A+

I've always disagreed with grading a draft this soon, but IMO we got a top 5 player at 11. He's such a smart player. Matt Patricia, the Buckeyes DC speaks so highly of him, saying that Downs actually helped put together game plans with him. I really do agree with the Ed Reed comparisons.
Caleb can play Deep safety, box safety and in the slot at CB.
He was a 3 time All American (2 times as first team, and 2nd team as a true freshman), where Saban did not usually start true freshman.
Absolute steal at 11.
I think Lawrence may take some time, but the talent is there. His ceiling will depend on his work ethic.
