Grade the Pickens trade

Even if Pickens plays very well, which I expect, and doesn’t moan at all about not being targeted enough while chasing the bag (which he is absolutely going to do and something a rookie HC does NOT need), they are going to lose him after this season.

If Jerry was “going for it” or “all in” or whatever for THIS year, he should have done more in free agency, especially with run defense.

Anyone who argues against that has a fantasy football mentality. Funny I mention. Most Jerry trades are for WR. Is someone gonna tell him the NFL isn’t a PPR league?

An “A” for the talent.

A “C+/B” due to the risk of Pickens being such a volatile player and the potential for this only being a one-year rental.

*In terms of on-the-field skills, Pickens is superior to Tet McMillan or any receiver that’s likely available in Round 3 next year.

Yeah let the complaint department begin

because they don't like anything Jerry does so they're going to call this guy a misfit locker room cancer and all that nonsense!!

this just elevated our wide receiver group from questionable after lamb to top 5 duo in the league and it makes Tolbert and Turpin even better because their depth is now at 3 and 4 when you add in Jaden blue what he can do out of the backfield with juice this tree just makes our offense all of a sudden dangerous in my opinion I know we have to see it on the field. They're working hard to fix the offensive line and now receiving threats since since the offseason and the draft this is an A plus trade this just makes it harder for teams now who are they going to double are they going to try to stack the box on the run and leave these dudes on the outside with all this talent it elevates the entire offense....
what moves has jerry made in the past 30 years to get us closer to being a championship calibur team? so complaints are legit.

Jerry buys flash. makes moves that sell jerseys and put fans in seats because offense sells.

shouldn't we have elevated the DT room? or the LB room? or the saftey Room first? before adding more WR, after trading a 4th last year for another WR!..both of whom now in the last year of their contracts...

For this situation, at this time, full F.

Maybe if he wasn’t a malcontent and/or your head coach didn’t just get done talking about “changing the culture” and “running the ball” it could be different.

Wait until he starts moaning over not getting enough targets in his walk year. Jerry gonna step in and fix that? Of course he thinks so, because HE is the defacto coach and why no one who actually stands on the sidelines can ever command a locker room with him around.

Further proof there’s no real plan. Their own actions contradict what they say….literally within days of each other.
Nailed it.

I give it a B.

A 3rd rounder next year is high for one year, but unless he implodes in a contract year, you should get a 2027 4th rounder comp pick at a minimum.

But they really must feel good about their chances to compete THIS YEAR.

It definitely gives them one of the better 1-2 receiver combinations in the league.
Who is to say we can't franchise tag him like the Bengals did with Higgins?

The problem is he's on the final year of his contract. This makes it a very expensive 1-year rental. Trading a 3rd round pick for 1 year of service is just a bad deal for Dallas.

I can't believe the number of people sitting here saying they aren't serious about running the ball because they traded for a good WR. They could get literally nothing going last year because teams could stack the box against the run because Ceedee was the only real passing threat. Having Pickens, Lamb, and Ferguson on the field will force defenses to spread out and open up the run game. Giving this trade an F is the most disingenuous troll post ever.

Dude is a serious locker room issue….did u not see some of the stuff he did with the Steelers, quitting on multiple plays included? And he only has one year left on his contract……do we want to sign him long term with BIG effort and A-hole personality issues, after giving up a 3rd? The criticism for this trade is very valid. Maybe he will grow up here and drop those attitude and effort issues…..but there’s a good chance he doesn’t….and will want a big contract after only one season. We will see. Big talent, but talent doesn’t always pan out.

This about covers it.
Mic drop.

Need to sign Nick Chubb now and will be darn good off season as far as getting positions we need. Hope Pickens is happier here and doesn’t have the effort issues he had in Pit

Just think of all the former first round pics on this team with one year deals. It will be an interesting end of season, but that’s another subject. I can’t wait to see what happens this year. I’m excited.
They’ve got me excited for the upcoming season as well.
