He's getting a $500 pre-paid debit card from my folks, so $50 from a scrub like me sounds about right.

Sounds like you could use it more than the graduate. The pre-paid debit, that is...

Cozy up to the nephew and ask him to spread the wealth.
One username and password will get you both in. :laugh2:

I don't think he fancies the "Thai Ladyboy" sites I subscribe to.

For someone who just graduated high school, we usually give around 200-300. This is just to help them out a little while they transition to college.

My nephew's graduating high school next week, so I have to get a check in the mail. How much are kids getting these days? $50 or so?

You tightwad. Any gift like that under 200 screams cheap

 It's his nephew. If he has a good sized extended family, and they all chip in with 50 bucks. He'll get a nice reward.

Including me, he has 10 aunts and uncles. Then there's the $ from his parents and both sets of grandparents. I think he'll do quite well.

It's funny judging by your posts, that you would try to explain the idea of presenting a good front.

BTW you only stand out to a relative by how much you communicate with them.

ah but Bobby, I stand out. Whether you agree or disagree, whether you love or hate me, you have an opinion of me. Kind of like you in that regard.

There are many posters here who are so non descript I wouldn't know if they posted or not.

When my nephew graduated, I gave him an envelope stuffed with $100.00 dollars and about 20 job applications. :)

$50 sounds good.

I gave my niece $40, so you beat me.

Oh, and teeth. They're worth about $3 at our house. And the kids don't get paid for doing their regular chores. We pay them a little if they go above and beyond what is expected of them.

When I graduated, I got luggage.............
