One takes Fred 10th, the other 18th.
Both give Sheldon Richardson to the Chiefs at #1 and Ezekiel Ansah to the Jags at #2.

10. Titans
Mays: C Travis Frederick (2013: first round, 31st overall) We’re on the same page with the Titans needing an interior offensive lineman, so I’m giving them the best one from this draft. People laughed when the Cowboys took Frederick 31st overall. They aren’t laughing now. He’s been the anchor of the league’s most dominant rushing game, regularly handling nose tackles one-on-one, allowing his guards to worry about the second level and pave the way for DeMarco Murray to grind defenses into human dust. I’m not sure there’s a center in the league I’d rather have in the run game right now.

18. 49ers
Barnwell: C Travis Frederick. The Cowboys probably drafted Frederick a round too early, given that he reportedly had a third-round grade, but the likelihood they could have gotten him later doesn’t affect Frederick’s talent. He’s been an above-average center from the moment he stepped onto an NFL field, serving as the pivot on what’s been the best offensive line of 2014. The 49ers under Jim Harbaugh have built their offense around their dominant offensive line, but the once-fearsome five-man group has looked mediocre this season, especially on the interior. Frederick would solidify the group.

Barnwell blows.

Frederick was a 2nd round pick across the board. He was thought to be probably a mid-2nd round pick, the draft consisted of teams taking interior O-Linemen at a dramatically fast rate and the Cowboys decided to take him because in all likelihood he was going to be gone by the 2nd round pick. And he's been quite excellent for almost his entire career and many are considering as possibly the top center in the game.

Like I said before, only in Dallas can a center be scrutinized heavily for running a slow 40 time.

Yep... and before he ran that slow 40, he was a consensus first round pick (read: just graded from how he played football and not the combine). Just before the draft, his stock started rising some like most combine losers. He was easily a second round pick at worst. There might have been a few draft gurus that said he might last until the third, but those guys don't understand football that well, IMO. Overall, he was looked at as an early to mid 2nd round pick.

People who downgraded him for his slow 40... I wonder if they upgraded him for his extreme intelligence?

Frederick is one hell of a football player.

I dont remember where I read it, but I rememeber reading they didnt want to trade down a few spots and take him in the second because they wanted the 5th year option

Pretty dumb comment from Barnwell: "This guy I'd now take 18th, was probably taken a round too early at 31...." How does that even make sense in his head before he types it all out?

Several draft analysts had him as a first rounder until he ran a slow forty and they immediately dropped him out of the 1st. Some even admitted that was the reason they dropped him down.

Barnwell is one these guys like that Rosenthal guy(saying the Cowboys won't make the playoffs) when I said he won't admit that he was wrong. Barnwell was wrong about Frederick and just won't come out and say 'I was wrong' but instead making lame excuses. YOU WERE WRONG Barnwell JUST ADMIT IT!

"They took him way too early...but I've have taken him even earlier in retrospect" is not a very convincing argument, I agree.

If he plays like a like a middle first round talent he is worth a middle first round pick, period.
To find fault in picking a great player later then his redo value is conjuring faults

Smart like you say - which is paramount for the C position and tough as nails!

How many times this season have we seen Fred 15-20 yards downfield making a block?

I was one of the very few Cowboy fans that was stoked about drafting Fredrick the very moment they selected him.Fredrick would not have not fallen to us in the second round . Not the way offensive lineman were flying off the board.
Next time you see Terrence Williams make a big time catch thank your lucky stars that trade was made.

I had Center as the #1 team need that year. I was happy to see them get one.

Is "Hardline" related the the radio show "The Hardline" ?

yes. I go by The Fake Norm Hitzges on another Cowboy forum. Funny thing is I no longer listen to the Hardline. Too many stupid bits and very little sports talk. I only listen to Norm and Bob Sturm now. Wish they would can that idiot Dan McDowell.

You've never dealt with him on a personal level. It's even less appealing.

YR

Well we dated once so I don't know how personal you'd call that. But on a serious note I would like to hear your story.

Barnwell makes two good points and they are perfectly logical. Where he was drafted is a matter of value. If they could have drafted him 10 or 30 picks later, then it wasn't good value AT THE TIME.

That's his apple point. His orange point is looking back now in hindsight at where these guys would be drafted TODAY.

Apple, orange? WTH?

Barnwells point is terrible because it comes with so many qualifiers:

The Cowboys probably drafted Frederick a round too early, given that he reportedly had a third-round grade, but the likelihood they could have gotten him later doesn’t affect Frederick’s talent

He says they have the best O line on football, acting like it was a reach even after the trade down is just not giving the Cowboys credit.
