Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men. I like them a lot.

i found out that my husband has an x-men graphic novel himself, & the funny thing is that i didn't even know that he had it.:laugh1:

I used to read 'em some, but then I worked as admin at a comic store for awhile, and got pretty jaded pretty quick. I liked some of the older stuff, like Dark Knight Returns, The Watchmen, American Flagg, Tales of the Arabian Nights.

But one you might like to take a look at are the titles in the Girl Genius series. It's Victorian steampunk with magic, written by a husband and wife team. Pretty funny stuff.

I've got a few of the classics, I am always scared to start collections things like this cause it never ends.

The Watchmen graphic novel is good. Probably deeper than most.

That's an understatement. It was one of times 100 best novels ever. Graphic or not.

Liked the movie, but I never read the novel. The movie is actually my all-time favorite, so I should probably read the novel some time.

Blasphemy! Get thee to a book store this instance sir. Greatest graphic novel of all time. It will fill in all the blanks Zack Snyder neutered in the film.

Also, if anyone likes the Mass Effect games you should check out the novels based on it.

:laugh2: I'll probably get Watchmen pretty soon if it's better than the movie.

For some odd reason I feel you maaaaaaaaay be a bit biased when it comes to anything related to The Watchmen. I have to say the intro for the film was stupendous. It gave so much story in what, 2 minutes with the perfect musical selection to set the mood for what was happening to the concept as well. I might pick up the novel at some point, but my "absolutely necessary" reading list grows daily.

If I came off as if I didn't like the film then that's my bad because I loved it. It was the closest they could have got to bringing Watchmen to the big screen. Zack couldn't fit everything in the film though and because of that so many memorable moments and plot lines will never be seen by someone who has never read the novel. The film would have had to been 10 hours or more to fit everything in. That's what I was trying to point out.

The intro was indeed great but almost all the music selection in the film came directly from the graphic novel.

Nah, you didn't come off like that in any regard. I was just giving you crap because of your avatar. I had the movie's version of The Comedian's button as mine for awhile.

I read an article somewhere that they tried to make The Watchmen into a movie shortly after the graphic novel came out. The director and/or screenwriter said that it was not possible to make it at the time because it was too big and too complex. It really made me wish they had done it as a series.

...here's one for you.

It's a series called Fables. It's based on a topic most people can relate to. Childhood story characters such as Little Boy Blue, Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, Old King Cole, etc.

I won't say much more about them in case you are interested in reading them. Here's a link to the publisher.

There's an adult twist to it and some adult content so I wouldn't show it to little kids. I just ignored those parts, but that's just me.

I found it to be a very unique premise and a new twist to the world of comics. I refer to them as comics being a child of the 60's/70's.

I find these a nice diversion from books every so often. The comics genre with it's graphic element lends to a story teller a unique ability and for some it's probably the best way to encourage reading.

Enjoy those comics.
