Now that the Boys have tagged Spencer, what do they do with their 1st round pick? OL, S, or trade down for an additional pick? Needs are plentiful this year, as a fan I wouldn't mind seeing the last option if they could pick up another 2nd or 3rd rounder.
Dan Graziano(12:05 PM)

Offensive line, offensive line, offensive line. If the Cowboys don't take an offensive lineman in the first round, Cowboys fans have my permission to give up hope. The ONLY reason it MIGHT not have made sense to go OL was that DL was an arguably bigger need. But with Spencer tagged, that argument is off the board. They absolutely, 100 percent, no doubt about it need to pick an offensive lineman in the first round.

Do you see the cowboys addressing Safety in FA or the draft? Or do you think Matt Johnson and Church will be the starters?
Dan Graziano(12:08 PM)

I think they'll get someone, either in FA or the draft. No way to count on Johnson at all for anything, and Church is coming off a serious injury

Is Bennett an average tigh end? Was his output better in NY then in Dallas b/c he started or did he actually play better in NY?If Bennett equates money with respect for his skills, what will he do?
Dan Graziano(12:16 PM)

I think he's an above-average blocker with above-average physical gifts who has, so far in his career, been an average receiver.

Lee (DC)

I agree with you when you say you can't see how the Cowboys will pick anything else but OL in the first round. Do you have the same feeling about a position for the Commanders pick in the 2nd rd? Mine is best DB available.
Dan Graziano(12:18 PM)

I would agree that that's their biggest need.

Kung ** (Panda)

With Sensabaugh getting cut, do you see Dallas targeting a safety in the first round?
Dan Graziano(12:19 PM)

No. Why? Because Sensabaugh was so irreplaceable that they need a first-round safety? Offensive line. Offensive line. Offensive line.

Tino (Mexico)

What's the point of cutting Doug Free by June 1st if they can't use the cap space this season? I mean all the good FAs will be gone by then
Dan Graziano(12:20 PM)

You can carry unused cap space into next year. And with the way the Cowboys restructure deals, they could use it

Midge (Scranton)

Dan I'm not sure how you feel, could the Cowboys use an offensive lineman or two?
Dan Graziano(12:22 PM)

Honest to god, did anybody but me watch them last year? Off. Ens. Ive. Line!!!!!

Kung ** (Panda)

Ok. So Lets say Dallas goes with Cooper in the first round. Does dallas then target a guy like Elam to fill the hole at safety?
Dan Graziano(12:22 PM)

I don't know. Maybe. Sure. If you guys want to draft a safety so badly, sure, Elam. But I don't think they'd be crazy to take OL with that pick too.

rawz (kansas)

So your telling me, your the cowboys GM, and its your pick, and on your board, the scouts have the safety, and a defensive lineman rated higher then any offensive lineman still on the board, you still reach and take an offensive lineman?
Dan Graziano(12:24 PM)

Mel Kiper has six offensive linemen in his top 25. No one has to reach.

Kung ** (Panda)

Ok. If dallas is THAT crazy for o-line in this draft. How in the heck do they fill the void left at strong safety? Free agency perhaps? i think not. Dallas hasn't had a reliable safety of any caliber since Darren Woodson. They need to get a top notch safety in the first three rounds. There is a TON of depth in the o-line department.BEND TO MY WILL, DAN!
Dan Graziano(12:27 PM)

I don't but this depth argument. They don't need AN offensive lineman. They need A VERY GOOD offensive lineman. Who cares about the depth? Get one of the top five guys.

Leon Kiing (SE.GA)

What happens first: Dallas wins Super Bowl or Jerry Jones appears as a super-villain in a James Bond movie?
Dan Graziano(12:28 PM)

That last thing hasn't happened yet????

Red (Tyler)

Does the tagging of Spencer make it even more important to extend Romo with a more cap friendly deal ?
Dan Graziano(12:30 PM)

Yes.

Jose [via mobile]

Do you think the boys will trade Spencer for draft pick? If yes. What can they get for him?
Dan Graziano(12:35 PM)

I think it's farfetched to believe a team will trade a draft pick for Spencer knowing they'll then have to pay him.

Steve (VA Beach)

"I think it's farfetched to believe a team will trade a draft pick for Spencer knowing they'll then have to pay him"That makes no sense. Some team was going to pick him up in FA, so why not work out a deal for 5 years with him and then make the trade?
Dan Graziano(12:38 PM)

Well, because now you've spent the draft pick too. Cost went up.

Mike Jenkins (Dallas) [via mobile]

Dallas obviously doesnt want me anymore. Will i be a Giant on opening day?
Dan Graziano(12:42 PM)

I think you're a very interesting guy who will have multiple teams interested. I don't know what the Giants think of you.

Weech (SoCal)

With which funds exactly do you think Dallas will be addressing the safety? They certainly won't be going after the top guys in FA so why not just use a mid round pick to fill the need? They're very high on Matt Johnson.
Dan Graziano(12:46 PM)

They can be as high on him as they want to be, but there's no way an intelligent professional organization can be confident starting a guy they took at the end of the fourth round last year and who didn't play a single snap as a rookie. They will have other options in camp, I promise.

Austin (St Louis)

Brandon Albert for Anthony Spencer same cap hit both teams fill needs and it allows the chiefs to select Joeckel or Fischer who are obviously the only ones worth the #1 overall pick and gives dallas more choices on whether they go OL or DL in the first round
Dan Graziano(12:50 PM)

Well, it's interesting. I'll give you that.

rockin robin (independence, ks)

How happy are the cowboys with claiborne? If there was a redraft, would they take him again? Also, how do you compare claiborne with the best cornerback in this draft? THANKS!!! :)
Dan Graziano(12:53 PM)

I think they like Claiborne. I think they expected rookie struggles at that position, but I think he showed enough to justify him as a long-term solution there. I still don't agree with using two picks to get him, but that's what they decided to do. And I think he rates ahead of Milliner.
