What a difference from prior years. I'm waking up and excitedly "running" to social media to see if we signed someone else!
At this point I'm not even looking for a ton. Give me Wagner and Hankins and then an OG early in the draft and I think this team can really compete. Ideally we find an impact 3 tech of course, but I just don't see that out there in free agency so take what we can to improve the team and I think we look at 3 tech in the draft or at the trade deadline if we save our cap space. IMO the trade deadline has become a big part of roster building for teams that want to compete for a SB the last few years

I feel much better about our chances than I did a couple of weeks ago

The difference from prior years is this team and roster are really very good and if they didn’t do it now it would be foolish. That window doesn’t stay open long.

I don’t know why everybody thinks this team will sign Wagner. Not hating on your post, but just don’t think they would ever sign even Wagner. Even less so after LVE
Perhaps because from what you read we made an offer last year and reached out again this year and also because we need a LB badly and even at his age he was 2nd team All Pro and isn't expected to cost a ton. Clark has potential but who knows if he will ever be a quality NFL starter and he was completely lost in zone coverage. LVE is OK but not great and the team doesn't want to play Cox nor do they want to play Micah much at LB. Lastly we were horrible against the run again for parts of last year (although we played the run well late in the year) and need to shore that up.

This sounds great, it does. Dallas seems to be putting in the effort. But what makes you think our chances against the 49ers are any better this year than the last two years?

Our offense is anemic against them. That includes when we had Cooper, Lamb, a healthy Gallup, and Schultz. The only thing keeping the Cowboys in those games at all was the defense.

Gallup didn't play against them two years ago. Injuries are part of the NFL but last year we lost Pollard and didn't have Steele and had to piece together our CBs starting a rookie, playing a guy who was basically a rookie and a veteran we just signed off the street. The year before Micah couldn't rush the passer and played LB pretty much the entire game because Neal wasn't active due to injury. Most importantly I think we may be better on both sides of the ball if we finish off free agency and have another good draft. If our OL is healthy and we do what I mentioned (add Wagner and Hankins) I think we are a much better team. If we also add an OL in the 1st or 2nd to fill in for when Tyron gets hurt so we don't miss a beat I think it really helps. Will we be better than them? I am not saying that, but they beat us by one score both years so if we are just better than we were those years we certainly could beat them.

its a good start, not great. covered a couple of obvious holes, with older players. we need more. DL, DT, LB,

Ok, an optimist view. I'm the opposite. But hey. this is a totally different year. Anything can happen.

One thing I find interesting is that there's the mention for Wagner even wire Clark's showing last year, and mentions multiple other positions other than TE.

Clark showed so much more than Ferguson and Hendershot did last year. Same with Osa at 3T.

This isn't just the OP I'm talking about btw

Stop being so stingy ...... We should be giving away talent to make it fair for the other teams.

I want to believe in the "window', but I still feel like there's a ceiling.

That window doesn't guarantee anything, but you can't stop building towards it. I'm not a huge Dak fan, but the 'no surrounding talent' excuse can't go on much longer. These next 3 years is really their opportunity to make some noise in the postseason. And it's the best roster top to bottom in the Jerry era that doesn't include Jimmy's leftovers. So we'll see if #4 could step up to the plate and win something besides a wildcard game?

We haven't even drafted yet either and have all of our top picks

The NFC looks VERY vulnerable, so we could back into a deep playoff run

Who in the NFC are you taking over this perceived ceiling?
The ceiling, to this point, is real. The perception is believing the 2023 Cowboys will surpass it.

The Niners defense has given Dak fits, and they've added to it. It hasn't mattered who plays QB for them. The Eagles have lost some players, but they've also been to two SBs in Dak's tenure despite massive roster changes between those appearances. Meanwhile, the ceiling (Dak and the Jones boys) remained in place.

As I've said for years, I'll believe the Cowboys are different when I see it. There are no March SBs for me anymore.

Oh hell, maybe they should just decide not to play this year! I mean since they have no shot, and since you think they are gonna suck anyways.

If the ceiling is the QB play, what other NFC QBs are you taking over him? That's what I asked.

It's not the start but the finish that counts. Haven't been impressed in over 27 years.
