Offenses and defenses: PUSH
Special Teams: Skins completely outplayed us all game...except the outcome was determined by our perfect kicker while Gano missed 2.

Lots of things looked ugly today...false starts, run game shut down, Romo and receivers were off, offensive confusion. I give 100% props and credit for that to the Commanders. To say we were unprepared is foolish knee-jerk response.

1. Skins defense is for real, no matter your hatred for Hall and others. They have 8 guys around the box the whole game, stuffing the run, pressuring Romo...yet still playing great pass defense...how? They also tackled like pro-bowlers. Even when something looked to break, solid tackles. For a lousy team on a 5 game losing streak, that D is freakin' fierce. No one has had smooth sailing on them.

2. Grossman picked a crappy day to play the best game of his season. He threw some incredible passes into tight windows with a little pressure, and he really played with confidence down the stretch. Stalworth and Gaffney decided to show up and act like NFL players with tough grabs.

3. Why are our return units so bad? I have no clue, but our guys were fighting off blocks to make tackles...I never see our guys blocking the other team like that on returns.

This is not a Skins lovefest, but is more an argument why I'm so proud of this win. A legitimate top defense and superior special teams, along with a QB playing his best game of the year...a proud rival at home, on a 5 game losing streak, playing very hard and very well...it's not easy to go in there and hang #6 in a row on them, even if you are the better team...especially without your #1 WR and starting CB.

Their defense had a lot to do with all of our issues on offense today...they did not sit back and let our wr's run their patterns, and that accounts for timing issues... I think they stood around, disguising their defense till the last second too, and I think that had a lot to do with Tony waiting at the line so long to get us into the right plays and know what he was seeing.

The Skins haven't been winning, but they get paid too, and it's not always as easy on the field as we think it should be on paper.

Our Cowboys went on the road and faced one of their bitter rivals playing a heck of a game....and they came out victorious.

This was a great victory (and a big one).

Sounds good, however I think you should have mentioned the word "lucky," which is the reason that we walked out of there with a win.

the Commanders were game roosters from the opening snap till the last second.

london fletcher is an amazing linebacker at his age or any age.

dude is a beast.

we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

He had a better game in their season opener, when they beat the Giants 28-14.

Oh...no doubt, we were lucky...Gano missing those two field goals was probably the biggest luck we had today.

Oh, and we beat him up in here a lot, and rightfully so, but Bennett came up big today with his catches, especially that one hander.

Well, I'm willing to say his 2nd best game without even thinking about it because whether it was his absolute best or 2nd to the Giants game has nothing to do with the point of the thread...I think you love statistical points more than football...ha.

Well, I expected it to be close, but not nervewracking. That throw from Grossman to Anderson (88) was ridiculous. Couple that with horrific Dallas special teams (save for Bailey) and you have yourself a dogfight. Grossman had seemingly all day to survey the field, so I'm not sure how much of this you can hang on the secondary. Scandrick, aside from his gift INT, didn't distinguish himself today. And Newman had trouble covering a guy who was out of a job until just a few days ago. Give the W to Tony, whose Houdini act in the pocket pretty much saved the day--numerous misconnects with Robinson notwithstanding.

Grossman made some great throws, you gotta give him credit.

The one to Andersen, the TD fade to Stallworth, & some of those deep ins were all impressive.

umm no. He made a few obviously good passes and did a good job avoiding the rush. Anybody can see that. Just because he's not Aaron Rodgers doesn't mean he was bad.

He also drops back deep, which makes it hard to get to him when you're basically counting on one guy (Ware) to pressure the QB.

The point is that the Giants' defense made him look better than he did today. Some people will convince themselves that we can't win the division/make the playoffs/etc. because Grossman played well. But he played even better against our only competition for the division (at this point, at least).

^^Truth! WE made Grossman look good. Our defense looked atrocious out there today. Newman needs to be cut next year... he got burned over and over again in this game.

Avoiding the rush? What rush? Ryan's schemes generated no pressure against a beat up offensive line. Terrible defensive effort from the 5 minute left mark on. If Gano makes the FG we are singing a different tune.

I don't buy the "luck" angle. We were given no cheap points, and those Gano FGs were hardly chip-shots. We had to earn this win, albeit in ugly fashion, and we did.

Outstanding post. Pretty much what I thought of the game.

The Commanders battled.

Happy for the win...even if it was ugly. Given the talent level on the skins (or lack thereof) and their injuries, we should have had a blow out. Just have to chalk it up to playing our bigest division rival who always plays this game like it's their SB.

Now, we just need to take care of business Miami on Thurs and follow it up with a win against AZ next Sun. We could be sitting in a pretty good position However, if we play this way against miami then I will really start to get concerned about the rest of the season.

THIS!!!!

WE earrrrrrrrned this win. Romo was outstanding when he needed to be.

Not happy with the defense, but give credit where it's due. Grossman got hot late and made a ton of plays.

My biggest dissapointment was that the offense couldn't seal the deal with the late 7 point lead. 10-15 more yards and Bailey's lining up for a 10 point lead.

Nice summary and good perspective. As out of sync as the offense looked for long stretches,we still scored 24 pts in regulation against a very good defense. It should have been enough for an easier win. It was the defense (and like you say, the ST's), that were shaky. We drew the good Rex for much of the day.

The Cowboys 4th/5th corners have been decent for the most part, but I can't wait until Jenkins comes back. He's really going to be needed for the December push. Ball looked to be struggling out there.

Thank goodness we won the battle of place kickers. Ugly win, move on.
