Well Duh !! I just didn't read it right !!Apparently, you missed the "American" portion of the title.
Heart
Boston
Fleetwood Mac
Oh, almost missed a favorite.
Alice Cooper
Or was I only supposed to put one?
Yep, Alice Cooper albums with the original band were awesome, everything up to and including muscle of love.
Bruce Springsteen and Areosmith
You must really like being wrong!I'm calling The Eagles a rock & roll band and calling them the best American band of the 70's.
You must really like being wrong!
Which I might consider, if they weren't more hard country than rock. They really didn't get anywhere near rock before Joe Walsh joined, but even then.... meh. (Just my opinion, of course)Hmm. No. LOL!
I really like Aerosmith. But The Eagles had 4 #1 hits in the 70's plus several other top 40 hits.
Aerosmith had two top 10 hits, a number 6 & a number 10.
For just the 70's I'm taking The Eagles.

I love the Eagles, but I'd put them more in a category with the likes of James Taylor (whom I also love) or Jim Croce. Almost folk rock, which is about as "rock" as soft rock.See I don't get "country" at all with them.
Nor do I think "rock" means yelling and guitar smashing... Or maybe it does! LOL!
Elvis had an amazing voice. Unchained Melody is amazing.
one of my favorite vocal performances....gives me chills.Elvis had an amazing voice. Unchained Melody is amazing.

Yes it is. LolBut they're still a "rock" band.
As their description begins on Wiki... The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971.
Rock just isn't hard rock.
