Several people have a favorite player.. but who do you think is the greatest player in your NFL history?

Jerry Rice. Most frustrating player to watch. I always rooted against him and he always shut me up. Emmitt would be my second.

Agreed. Jerry Rice is the greatest player that has played the game since I've been watching football (ie since 1978 or so).

Rice, Elway, Emmitt.

If it were favorite player Emmitt would win in a landslide for me.

Gonna have to echo pretty much everyone else, my first thought was Rice, then Emmitt.

Rice, Emmitt, L. Taylor, R. White.

John Elway. Maybe Montana. Man, it hurt to type that, but I give guys their dues. Trying to pick one player in a sport like football is almost impossible.

Absolutely zero doubt that Jerry Rice is the best WR that has ever played the game, but I'm not sure about greatest player period. Can't see naming a WR as the best player to ever play in the NFL.

Defensively? LT or Reggie White. Though I believe Randy White Bob Lily were just about as dominate as Reggie.

Emmitt for me as well. I always felt that San Fran could still win with John Taylor, Ricky Waters, Roger Craig, Joe Montana, Steve Young, etc., but Dallas' offense just seemed to come to a halt whenever Emmitt didn't play. To me, he was the key to the success of the 90's teams. And the fact that he holds the most prestigious NFL award, along with 3 Super Bowl rings, seals the deal for me.

Jerry Rice

Easily.

By far the best football player I've ever seen play. He was just flat out amazing.

I'd have to say:
1. Barry Sanders (He was just amazing and with no real QB or WR threats and a weak line for many of his seasons)
2. Tom Brady
3. Joe Montana (Greatest winner in my lifetime)
4. Jerry Rice (best WR ever? Def in my lifetime)

That's tough - always hard to compare different positions to answer a question like this. Reggie White and Jerry Rice seem to be the best choices though. I suspect had I been born 10 years earlier and had watched a lot more of Jim Brown he would be the guy.
