Just thinking about everything the eagles have done in FA and why so many people think they will win it all and why so many Cowboy fans are upset Dallas didn't do the same.

Going out and buying every top name FA like the Commanders and Yankees have done in the recent past doesn't win championships. The philis are doing the same thing in baseball and what did it get them. But if you look at the Philis team that won the world series, it was done with mostly team built developed players.

Now look at the Giants in baseball, building through their prospects. Look at the Steelers, Colts, Saints, and Packers. All 4 build through the draft and sign mid level to small name free agents. Building through the draft and finding the right fit free agents and not just the big name free agents that win championships.

I'm not going to sit here and say that I'm happy with all the moves Jerry has made or that I like all the signings Phili has made, but I'm also glad we didn't go throw a bunch of money around to try and fix our problems and put us cap hell in a few years.

Baseball and football are completely different.

Yes, the strategy has failed the Yankees. Last year. Last 15 years, 7 appearances in the WS.

In baseball, if you plug in a couple of positions, one an elite pitcher, it works.

Take the best two players in the NFL. Plug them into any particular team; are they favorites? No. Too many other variables. Coaching much more important.

In order to build through the draft, you have to draft well. Those teams you mentioned don't have Cowboys 2009 type drafts.
