I had not focused on Chaz Green from the San Fran game because I was more interested in the play of Williams and Fleming. Today, I went back and watched the first half just looking at Green on offense. He was much better than what's been said on here about him.

Green had two bad plays. On his worst one he drew a holding call that killed a drive. Green allowed the defender to extend an an arm to his shoulder, jolting him and giving the defense control to move him because he did not readjust his feet. Because Green got jolted back, the defender was able to rip and go around him, which caused Green to grab him to keep him from getting to rush.

On the other bad play, the 49ers blitzed from the other side and Rush dumped the ball off to Barwin. If they had not blitzed, Green's man might have got to Rush because he went around Green to the outside with speed. Green did a poor job of kick-sliding to get in front of the rusher.

On his other pass blocks, Green set well and did not give up much ground. His run blocking was very good with Green controlling much of the action, pushing defenders out of the way.

As I mentioned in another film review post I just made, I wanted to review both Green and Kadeem Edwards on the offensive line. Edwards didn't play in the first half, so I thought I would stop and drop this review first.

Green needs to avoid those technical errors he made on those two plays, but it isn't true that he was awful in this game. He was mostly good with the two mistakes standing out more than all the times he performed his job with what looked like relative ease.

No disrespect intended...but Chaz Green needs to be cut. Plain and simple, we can do better at backup tackle, especially by the time last cuts are made in early September.

He’s been either hurt, occasionally ok, and a few times terrifically awful. Put all that together and it’s time to say goodbye. This team has given this guy a hundred chances to show he’s anything more than a questionable NFL player. Honestly, I can’t believe they didn’t cut him last year.

I'm not determining in my analysis whether he should be cut or whether he shouldn't. All I'm doing is looking at how he played.

Fans have strong opinions about him, but those opinions are not always based on fact. Most of what I read from fans after the San Fran game was that he played awful. The truth is that he was awful on two plays and easily held his own on the rest while playing every drive but the first one in the first half.

Green sucks. Period. Please don't sugarcoat how bad he is.

Sugarcoating is making something appear better than it was. There's no sugarcoating here, just straight up looking at his play. I didn't go into this looking to make him look better or worse than he was, just simply to look at his play. I'm not sure why some can't take a straight-up analysis if it doesn't fit their worldview.

no way is he one of the 53 best players on the team.
not right now.
from atlanta thru today...he is one of the worst.
Im not cutting a Charles Tapper or Bo Scarbrough so he can be our 8th OL.
Ive seen enuff.
get your tapes in order...coach wants to see you...bring your play-book.

Whatever you say dude. Green sucks. From the day he got drafted from today. You can say anything you want about him. He is not worth the roster space he is occupying now.

I had hopes for him when he was drafted, but I will more than admit I was wrong. He's a joke

Unfortunately, this franchise has major issues simply admitting a mistake and moving on. We screwed up badly taking a 6th round talent in the 3rd round, but compounding the mistake by not bringing in better players and moving on is just stupid.

We could have used that draft pick on a RB which we needed that time and it was a deep draft for backs.

Green was a dumb pick. Not picking a runningback was also just as dumb.

For some reason Green reminds me of that Dolphins player who got bullied and quit. Still cant belive that busta

Chaz Green was drafted to eventually become the starting right tackle of the Dallas Cowboys.

It did not happen.

The team opted to move La'el Collins, an undrafted player with first round talent, from LG to RT last off-season when Doug Free decided it was time to hang up his cleats. Collins had the expected growing pains, but held up pretty well facing a long list of talented edge defenders in 2017. Green had experienced multiple injuries to start his career and also dealt with a constant hydration issue akin to Miles Austin. But Dallas wasn't ready to give up on the Gator after deciding to move Collins to RT, they still viewed him as one of the best five OL on the team.

Green moved to LG and got the nod over Jonathan Cooper, a former high first round selection Dallas had a very high opinion of, who had battled injuries and found himself on his third team.

The Cowboys opened 2-1 with Green at LG and I don't think anyone is going to lay the Rocky mountain debacle in Denver solely at his feet. But he did get hurt at the end of week three, something most everyone felt was coming, and Cooper took over for the remainder of the season. Good, bad or mediocre, whatever the former Tar Heel did last season failed to elicit any interest from Dallas when he became a free agent in the off-season.

Green became the swing tackle after Cooper became the starter at LG and we all know what happened in Atlanta when Tyron Smith was out. Chaz was an absolute disaster and some observers feel Dak Prescott was never quite right after that game. The coaches didn't do a lot to help Green against the Falcons and when he was benched in the second half, his replacement Byron Bell fared no better.

The Cowboys didn't release Green last year or during the off-season, but they did sign Cameron Fleming to be the new swing tackle and draft Connor Williams to be their new LG.

Green is competing to remain on the roster against players already here and others who are soon to be axed or offered up in trades.

Chaz has talent and position flex, but is in the final year of his rookie contract while having injury and hydration issues.

We could do worse when it comes to an 8th offensive lineman, but it may be time for some new blood.

Green was experiencing multiple injuries in college. He was a known injury prone player.

What's worse than a guy who is rarely available?

Chaz Green is a weak minded, weak willed, and weak bodied player.

He can’t be relied on.

He is SOFT.

He needs to be gone.

Chaz Green is the last dude I would want in the trenches with me.
I really haven't seen any evidence of him being weak willed and weak minded or soft. However, he simply cannot stay healthy, so nothing else matters. The sad part is that he was injury prone all through his college days. Taking him in the 3rd was just foolish.

A terrible player that's always available?

I wasn't a fan of the Chaz Green selection because of his injury history, I don't believe in spending premium picks on them (yes, that goes for Jaylon Smith, too).

But Dallas loves gambling on talent that drops for whatever reason.

That said, Chaz Green has managed to start six games despite all his injuries, three at LT and three at LG. There's more good tape than bad in those six starts.

He can play tackle and guard, and has starting experience at both. That's not a bad thing when considering an eighth OL.

Even if Chaz makes the cut, he isn't promised a spot all season and will undoubtedly be playing elsewhere in 2019.

Disagree.

If a player cannot stay on the field, he's simply not the guy you want to count on in any respect. There are mediocre players floating around the NFL who are not terrible.

Durability is the most underrated quality of a good football player. Fans tend to over appreciate guys with big talent but are unable to stay healthy enough to play. An often injured player is a liability.
