Anyone know why some players are wearing a green colored vest over their jerseys?
Some also have red ones.

You are correct. Since special teams are made of a combination of offense and defense players, vests are used over their blue of white jerseys.

Since red means stop. I.e. Red jersey don't hit the qb

Green means go. So I'm assuming it means to hit them with everything you got and then a lil sumptin extra like an eye poke, cleat stomp to the hand, knee to the groin.
